Sony Tritron Kv32S22 No Power
TV's have of course high voltage in them which makes them act much like
those electrostatic air cleaners and may well have plenty of dust
inside and the smoke ash probably was the "straw that broke the camels'
back". Find an outside source of compressed air, take the back
off of it, and blow it all out. If you are lucky it will then
work. If not, my usual 10 year rule then applies:
My experiance is to not put money into a TV that is over ten years
old. TVs stress out their electronic components worse than almost
any other electronic product. After 10 years, there are so many
parts that are ready to fail that your are probably wasting your money
trying to get any more life out of it.
Another option is to wholesale replace the main board from an outfit like Module Exchange at 972-298-1212
Be careful on buying a new one though. Often times, these new
technology ones are much worse. Always Google the model number of
the set you intend to buy and add the word 'repair' or 'complaint' to
see if it is one of the many models that are customer service
nightmares being produced by even the most reputable companies today.
Hope ya fix it!

No sound, black & white picture
Invest in a good surge protecting power bar for your electronics such as TVs and Computers. This can save your devices from all kinds of surges and overloads.

Tv repair
First, you need to get the TV to work then worry about the remote. The TV will power on/off using the power button on the TV but thats it. You can try whats called a 'hard reset'. Unplug the TV from the wall and anything connected to it for 4 hours. Then plug everything back in. The manual is on the website: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=KV20FS120

Red-Orange Screen
If the screen flashed when the TV made a popping sound, then I would suspect an intermittent heater to cathode short in the picture tube. When this happens, it usually takes out one to three output IC packs located on the CRT drive board. Even if you replaced the defective output packs which are soldered in and attached to metal heat sinks to restore the picture, the CRT could short again and redo the damage. For a 20 inch screen it is probably not worth repairing.

I have Trinitron Sony Television
I think what your asking is for an on screen service menu?? That wont fix your problem. It sounds like you have a vertical height problem where the screen doesnt fill the entire screen with the Picture. The adjustments wont go out like that for no reason and all by them selfs. The vertical sweep IC went bad and is going to have to be replaced. This is not a job for the end user. You should call an experienced tech to assist you with this repair. Good Luck

Sony KV-20FS120
It's normal for new sets, especially Sonys to do that due to some sort of gas build-up in the new tube. My set still gets a
high-pitched buzz after power on and lasts for a minute or two before silencing.
If the hissing continues when the TV is turned off return it to the shop ASAP. It could be a problem with the power supply, something getting ready to blow up.
Good luck
