When a Sony TV flashes five times, that means that there is an AKB circuit fault.
This means that there is something wrong with the video.
Try first unplugging power for few hours, if that does not work, call a technician, as several IC and components must be tested and eventually replaced.

Sounds like the logic board. Is it the same on all inputs ?

PDP Panel is dead.

PDP Plasma Panel is dead.

This means Fan failure - A replacement will cure.

Count the flashes this is an error code. [email protected]

you want PDP as a component?

Pleas check this if you have a problem like this.

Remove the back cover. then look at het left top corner ther is a flat cable to the screen .. ( sometimes an cover is on the cable )
ther ar some black square areas .. moste of the time the black square is damaged...

Repair is not posible...

This is not a projection TV

Does the red standby light flash ?? If so count the flashes and see my error code section.

Your PDP panel is duff - Only a replacement will repair.

Your pdp panel sounds faulty - Count the red flashes this is an error code.

do you mean noise of exahust fan?

Ours does the same but resets if you switch off at the plug (not if you put on standby).
Look at the clock next 2 times it happens, ours happens at 8 minutes to 11 every night. No idea why!

Your best bet, if you have ther board out yourself is PTS Electronics. Techs even feed these guys because they're well known for their quality of work and reasonable price. If you're looking to have a shop there bring the whole set in and work on it maybe this will help.

Check the settings for the input and make sure captioning is not on....text mode does this on mine, figured it out after hours of pulling hair out...
