Your tv uses a xl-2400 lamp. Its common in that set for the lamp to go bad and still visually look ok. If the set come on for about 30 seconds and goes off then lamp light blinks I would suspect the lamp for sure. If it will not even come on now and lamp light is blinking I would also suspect the lamp. You can look here for more blinking code information. Its a great website lol just kidding.. its our site..

Yellowing in center of tv
The blue lcd panel is defective. It is part of the optical block/engine, ...very expensive. See if you can find an authorized Sony servicer and get them to check and see if Sony is still covering your model with an extended warranty. Good luck.

Yes, if lamp has not been replaced in last 2-3 years then it is lamp problem. If tv does not shut down and its standby light does not blink in red then lamp is cause of problem, replace it to fix tv issue.

Hi,
If standby red light is blinking 3 times after three second pause then check lamp cover that has no been fixed in its place correctly, it is first thing that you removed from tv cabinet to replace lamp, make sure lamp cover is back in place properly and tight.
If standby red light is blinking more or less then 3 times, let me know to diagnose problem.
Thanks.
Some discolorations or wrong colors probably dust
You have a defective light engine which is causing the colored spots to appear and the issue will only get worse in time. The part number is A-1123-071-A and runs around $580 dollars and you MUST return the core back or they will add $1300.00 in core fees. For $799 tigerdirect.com has a 60 inch Mitsubishi 1080p DLP for $799

Why power/stanby blinks light red
how many times does it flash? The back of the manual will usually tell you what the flashes mean. Try this: unplug tv from power. While unplugged, hold the power button in on the TV, not on the remote! Hold for 10 seconds. Replug the power and try to power it up. If you get no picture, you need a repair. Contact the manufacturer for an authorized servicer.
Not sure if this is the tv or what. Was watching
Does it happen on other inputs? If so, reset the tv, sat or cable box, unplug power and try again. Play a dvd. Does it happen on a dvd? If not, there is an issue with your cable source. If it shows on dvd too, contact your tv manufacturer. You need a repair.
