Sony KDF-E42A10 42 in. LCD Television - Page 3 Questions & Answers
Only red and blue on screen
Bad cable, replace it. If the cable is proven to be good then it is bad at the source (cable box) or the tv video card is bad. Eliminate backwards to find out. Plug the tv in with a new cable and if that does not fix it then plug something else into the tv such as a dvd player and see if the problem still exists. If it does then it is the TV itself. Message back if you get that far without results.
Tv will not power up although power light comes on then turns red
Does the light blink or is solid red? If not I would first remove the lamp and examine it to see it is not shattered or damaged inside.Lamp can look ok and be bad--about only sign is sometimes just before it fails the picture will take longer to come up or is darker.Lamp life averages 2000 hours or 2 years---less if a generic or NON Sony lamp is used. When was lamp last replaced and generic or?
DARK SHADOW EFFECT UPPER CORNERS OF SCREEN
I would check for dust particles before I attempted any type of repair on the unit.
Dust particles will appear as dark spots that are larger than the size of an individual pixel. It must first be determined if the particle(s) are on the LCD panels or the screen.
Sony KDF-E42A10 rear projection TV. Won't turn on.
Start by changing the lamp. If you got 5 years out of the old one, count your blessings, most folks only get three. The lamp is designed to be replaced by the consumer. Ebay will carry a replacement for you or you can get it directly from rivervalleyelectronics.net. They've got good prices. The lamp door is on the back. Its really easy, give it a shot.
Green Hue on VGA Input on Sony KDF-E50A10
There is some color format mismatch. Look for settings and try to correct it. You may go through the operation manuals of both step by step. Also check whether the frequency of the device is same like both are of 50Hz or 60Hz.
Picture is not as clear, brought 2005. Has blue color on lower right side of screen.
You may want to do some research with the model number via Google--"problems"The set indicated here is LCD rear projection--it uses a OPTICAL LIGHT ENGINE and a lamp= lamp shines into the engine and goes thru a series of lens and baffles and emerges from a 2-3 inch wide lens at top of engine--shines it into a mirror at the rear of set which places the picture on the screen. The first place the very bright and hot lamp hits inside the engine is the BLUE SECTION----damage occurs and you get blue streaks or area anywhere on picture.Damage is permanent and only way is to replace 800 + engine. You might want to at least call Sony with the model number as they were extending the warranty (beyond original) on several models and repairing or replacing sets outright. They were not doing this because they wanted to but because of several class action lawsuits they settled in this way.
My kdf-e42a10 tv won't come on flashes green 7 times then flashes red 3 times.
The 3 blinks is lamp door not closed, what it really means is the door may be warped from the heat of the lamp===the door has a plastic peg on the back that when the door is in place engages a lever just behind the door. If the door is even a little bowed=three blinks.Engage the lever with something not metal and see if set comes on, if it does replace the door.
