The Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in the TV. The Lamp light blinks when the Lamp requires replacement. The self-diagnostic function of the projection TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue. As per the two examples below, some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service. If the power light flashes three times in sequence, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue. If the STANDBY light flashes four times in sequence, the TV may be overheating. To resolve this issue, ensure that the back of the TV is well ventilated. This indicates that there is some kind of audio problem with your set. If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash, follow the steps below to perform a power reset: Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved. Turn off the television. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.

If the issue continues to occur, service may be required.

Your problem is your Lamp. You have what we call an intermittent Lamp. The only way to fix this is to replace the lamp. Part Number A-1085-337-A.

When did you replace lamp last time in tv?
If lamp has not been replaced in last 2-3 years then replace it to because existing lamp is getting weak and causing problem.
Lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual of tv.

If your television blinks 5 times or for a count of times, it simply is indicating that there is a problem inside the unit.

The problem applying to this situation is a faulty lamp. The lamp is bad and simply need to be replaced.

As soon as you replace the lamp, the television will be in good condition once again.

I'll need you to make sure your television is off then while paying attention to the area where the red light will display turn the television on and count for me how many blinks you see. The television blinks a certain amount of times to inform a technician what the problem may be. Please try what I asked and respond back to me using the comments box and I will get right back to you. Sounds like a cap is about to blow. Id take it apart and look at the caps on your power board to see if any of them are buldged. You can replace them if they are not too and see if it works, if not then you could have a bad transformer. In that case you have to repalce the board.

It is symptom of dying lamp and tv requires new lamp.
Existing lamp in tv has reached to end of its life span and causing that problem. If lamp has not been replaced in last 2-3 years, just put new lamp in tv to get it back in business.

This is a protection circuit that prevents the tv from coming on (to stop damage of the components) ....you need to check your voltages off the power supply and make sure they all read well (EX: 24v12v5v etc). Also look for popped capacitors that would make the values lower than need be for the tv to power on properly.


Once you repair the power supply then you may need to replace other components if needed (EX: backlight inverter)!

Continuous blink once a second, no pausing - No reply from the jungle IC301 (data bus is busy, shorted to ground, or held high), IK video path is defective.

It involves removing a housing an pulling out the bulb then inserting the new bulb and replacing the cover. Sony has excellent instructions in the owners manual:

Likely to be a blown fuse.
If it isn't a fuse in the plug it may be an internal one in the set itself (job for qualified TV repairer)

"LAMP" LED light indication also flashes?Yes,than the it is the lamp.

Remove the lamp.. and reinstall. MAKE sure you tighten the lamp door. IF the lamp door looks like it has been hot you need to replace lamp door. IF the door screw is not tight it will trip the lock out switch.

Hi This is most likely the inverter panel that drive the CCFL's (Backlight tubes) or the backlight tubes themselves, I'm afraid I can't help with the diagnostic test or service menu.

you should bring your unit to a qualified service pesonnel, problem like this is not a DIY act unless your a professional serviceman.

here are the check points
power supply,
X or Y sustain board,
bad screen (PDP panel),
logic board,
buffer boards

these sections of your TV are replaceable board.
the least you can do is just replace first the bulging/deformed capacitors.
begin with the power supply section..
after replacing try to pwer on again
