Sony gvd 1000 wont work comes up with code c 31.10
The 31 indicates a motor movement problem. The 10 indicates which one. I don't have the manual handy so I can't look up the specific motor movement that is wrong. These units are tricky to work on and are not DIY repair machines. Please seek an authorized service centor for this repair.

The C:32 is an indication that there is no movement of a motor. The 72 indicates which one. I don't have the service manual handy, so I don't know which motor is involved. These units are relatively senstitive to alignment and therefore arenot typically DIY repair units. I will locate the service manual and try to post more details later,

I cannot remove the cassette
Hello sir, hi, there is no user secret switch or lever to touch to remove the cassette, you need to manually remove the cassette by disassembling it and resemble the unit.

My apple computer does not seem to recognise my
Forget USB. Firewire is the best way to link to your Apple computer. Depending on the software your are using you will be able to control your Sony unit from your Apple computer. You could not do that via USB. Also firewire, or in your case i.Link is much faster. Just make sure you have a firewire port on your Apple and the proper software and you should be set. Sony GV-D1000 unable to be recognized.
launch video editing software...it should be able to see your deck. none of my three macs "recognize" the deck, but finalcut pro sees and can control the deck once it is connected and turned on

For Info Lithium Battery only
I was having the same problem with a sony GV-D1000 which I don't even use a battery with. I use an AC adapter. Someone suggested that the contacts might be dirty, so I unplugged the small connector that plugs into the back of the deck and wiped it hard with my t-shirt. It seems to work fine now. SO try cleaning the contacts (wherever your adapter or battery connects with the deck or camera.)
Sony GV-D1000 Powers on, will play memory stik, but not tape
C:31:23 error code means problem is in Supply Reel section.
If you are tech person you might got the point.
Unit has mechanical problem in supply reel area and reel pulse is not being generated as supply reel table may be stuck due to back tension.
