Your TV most likely has one of two possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.



You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Solution #1

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.


Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Solution #2


What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Sounds like your green panel is out of alignment. Has the TV been moved or jarred recently?

Generally speaking rear-projection panel alignments need to be done internally by professionals. Check for a local TV technician that specializes in projection TVs.

i play nintendo wii on mine

its the problem of main board and it needs reparing to make it proper.

if that doesn't work it will need new convergence IC's put in as well as a resistor or two

so u bought red white femail rca cables to mini sterio jack or bigger headphone style make sure tvs menu shows outoput on audio out on if u have option should be all it needs turn tv up after

Connect cable at RF input and please perform Auto Search in TV Menu to search available TV channels transmission and still no signal reception means Tuner is defective in TV.

Try a different power outlet? Possible shut down of DC supply due to short circuit can be heard if listen close at back of TV on plug in or power up with remote for a quick squeel then ticking sound or tick tick tick and nothing.

Sorry to say there is a shorted ??? which will require some electronics background or at most a good understanding of DC power supplies to get to the bottom of it.

The issue is most likely a bad bulb. If the light that you are getting is flashing red than most likely it is a bad lamp. If this is the case you are looking at probably $200-350 dollars.

Check the resistors that are right next to the ICs one or two of the resistors will usually go open along with The convergence ICs.

The convergence board or one of the deflection yokes has some failures. This may be a little expensive to service.

this problem is caused by the pal 50 - 60 meg problem, the sony runs at 50 megs, if you have a 60 input from an hdmi lead you will get ghosting
