big screen sony tv goes green after 15 minutes. I am pretty handy taking things apart and know how to solder so if I need to get dirt I can. Any good positive solutions would be very thankful. Thank You

I have a projection tv sone kp57hw40 that when you turn it on and after a minute or so a bright blue tone covers the screen and it shuts off. The standby lamp blinks 8 times. According to the help assit its a high voltage problem and the T8005(D board) needs replacing.

sony kp51 ws 500 projection tv
when turned on screen almost immediatley goes to solid red with
no discernible details to be seen then totally shuts off after about
20 - 25 seconds. red light blinks 8 times , pauses and blinks 8 times
again and again.......

The 8 blinks is pointing to a bad flyback transformer and may be common with this set. (We have one too.)
High voltage error -- blinks 8 times • T8005 is faulty. (D board)

the screen has blue green green, red outlines how do i fix it

This might be a convergence issue. I can tell you that the site that Jean posted will not fix this
problem and could even make things worse. That sight pertains to a specific problem that is common in
some Sony sets and should not be used to try to fix any other issue.
Please keep in mind many things can go wrong with TV sets and you should really do a lot of research before attempting any adjustment and or repair. There are high voltages present and they can reside even when the set is unplugged.

When i turn on the tv it´s good but in 1 minute or less the blue and green starts to fade until the screen is all red, i take a look behind the tv, they are still working but with less intensity.

My television is about five years old and now the lettering and picture at the top and/or bottom of it is concave. The picture is very blurry too with green and pink colors outlining people and or objects on the televison. I tried flash focus which did absoluting nothing. DVD's also have the same problem. Wondering if easy fix or just get rid of due to cost?

SONY KP-57HW40 TURNS OFF WITHIN SECONDS AND 6 BLINKS ON STANDBY LIGHT
Posted by DSONY on
6 blinks is usually associated with failure of the horizontal
deflection amplifier - which shuts down the high voltage system as well.
The repair requires testing to determine the exact parts that have failed. There are, for example, a few hundred parts and a section of the Jungle IC chip involved. So, repairs could require something as simple as replacing some inexpensive passive components OR as complicated as replacing the jungle chip (very expensive).
most of the time it's the horz. transformer and transistor.

Picture is turning blue .If you shut TV off and turn it back on,it will be good for about 30 seconds. When you turn TV on ,it will take an hour before you can see anything. Purchased Dec. 02. First time with any problems.

You have a problem with the CRT's - either they are used and need to be replaced (most likely on a tv of that age) or the video final module is failing.
Open the tv, set it on an blank channel and check the voltages on the CRT: if the voltages are steady and equal then the tubes are worn out; if they are different from each other and variable then the video final module has failed (or is about to) - fix it.
Either way it's gonna cost you around $350.

Jake, this is something that I can help you with. First you are going to have to get a pattern generator and get a crosshatch on the screen. I bought a test DVD that has all the patterns that can be used. You will have to do a static convergence with the convergence rings on the CRT's. Be carefull, because Sony puts two different types of rings on the neck of the CRT. One is for static convergence and the other is for the focus of the lens. Once you have that done you can get into the service menu and tweak the convergence using the internal generator in the convergence menu. Please let me know if this helps, and if you need any further help with the menus.
