PRESS AND HOLD POWER BOTTEN ON FRONT OF TV FOR TEN SECONDS THIS SHOULD RESET IT!

yes its dangerous because of its high voltage, but you can remove it yourself, just unplugged the power cord, then get a screw driver insert it to the high caps connected in the flyback its color red push the pin inside and pull it off be sure not to touch the metal part of your screw driver, then thats the time to unsolder it...

you can get it your tv fix the problem is in the IF amp and video circuit.a convergence will also be neeeded.the tv is old but can give you some more life call a tech they will be your tv doc.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I have the same model Sony with the same problem it was just returned from the repair shop (not to mention a $95.00 diagnosis charge) I was told that it will cost $700 to repair. The bulb in the back is gone and Sony no longer makes it so it would have to be re-built from scratch. I'm done.....

Unplug the set! Snap the trim ring off the front of the set and you may find a few screws or the front screen may just pop off. Then you can clean the screen and mirror. Be sure not to bump the color guns this will change the alignment of them. Be careful not to spill anything in the set. This is a relative easy fix.

no its not the speakers, i think it is the flyback transformer that is arcing.

replaced the CRT socket this might fixed the problem...

i have the same problem picture is blue/green with blue and green arched horizontal lines

no picture at all only sound then tv shuts off after 5-10 seconds and then a bright blue flash in the center of the screen

have tried adjusting the voltage screws didnt do anything

Yes, you are correct on the phrasing. The CRT's were a common issue with these units and all three must be replaced as sooner or later the green will follow the other two CRT's. It was a great model and had a beautiful picture when operating normally. The CRT's are costing about 200 each for rebuild as the green and blue are mostly no longer available. Your repair cost are going to approach $1000.00 or more.
