AKB is a color balance circuit. It stands for Automatic Kathode Balance
and is used in the video circuitry to keep the white balance in the
proper level when dosed with color signals that tend to saturate the
video level.
It is part of the "jungle IC" in Sony sets and is very important to the overall function of the color processing system.
The repair probably requires some surgery on the jungle chip if not its
replacement. Cost of repair could be anywhere from a few dollars to
$200 for the new chip.
It will require a service tech with good experience to know about this
function, which is quite esoteric in tv engineering principles.
The only suggestion I have before you call in a tech is to do the hard
reset (unplug for at least 4 hours) and the vibration check for loose

The important thing here is cleaning the refelective mirror inside you tv .We have noticed in dirty areas the dirt on mirror makes blurry picture.THerefore you have to open back cover and than tp cover to clean mirror and also dont forget to claen c.r.t lenses ,sisnce they are mounted facing upward ,lot of dust sit on c.r.t lens there fore clean 3 of them r.g.b..And you will notice on picture diffrence.

Now the shutdown circuit won't let you power-up the set...
This unit uses two STK392-020 Sanyo built amps. Those, together with testing and replacing some low ohm resistors should have this unit up and running again in short order...

He probably went into the Service Menu by Pressing Display,5,Vol+,Power buttons and adjusted the red convergence and that may have lasted alittle while, but the problem seem to be going blurry and then when warming up comes back ok. This indicates a Leaky Capacitor. My question would be is it only Red that is Blurry or is it all colors. It could also be a CRT problem. Could you take a picture of it when it's doing it?

This is due to you having a projection tv, some projection tvs are really bad for game playing and especially if you have a hdtv. even in the p23 manual it says that you shouldnt use with a projection tv cause it can damage your tv's screen permanently. I personally still play mine but, thats likly the problem.

Ok if not the best thing you can do is call a pro Bro. as these sets no a days do not have any user serviceable parts in them and do not have replace ment moduale due to popular belief. Ok to the set at hand if and only if your a tech!!? Could be as simple as a bad connection on the Horizontal driver transformer or driver transistor. First thing to check if its completely dead is the main power supply. Good Luck
