20 Most Recent Toshiba PDR-2300 Digital Camera Questions & Answers

We had a similar problem on a Sony cameras. The ON button had been pressed either too hard or the solenoid was sub-standard. Regardless, once that button fails the camera needs it fixed to ever work again. Its a brick otherwise, you can play with doing it yourself if you can find the part (ebay sometimes has electronics being sold as parts (not working) or take to a professional camera repair shop or just get a replacement. Sorry .. no good news there.

I suggest try to format your memory using you camera. If problem is still there, then reformat your memory card at PC.

It's best to erase and format memory cards in a digital camera, not via a computer. If you plan to use a memory card that was previously used in another camera, particularly if it was made by a different manufacturer, format the card in the new camera before taking any shots. A word of caution: make sure you back up any important photo and video files prior to erasing or formatting a card.

If you can, swap your memory with your friends which has the same memory. Just to verify if you problem is with your camera or your memory.

Also, its possible that you are interesting to read this article about finding-the-right-card.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If you should see the warning message "CARD ERROR" in the LCD Display, please check the following: Always choose reliable quality SD Cards. Toshiba Digital Cameras are tested for maximum performance with Toshiba SD Cards, Delkin SD Cards and Panasonic SD Cards. These are leading brands in the development of standard SD technology. Performance by other brands of SD cards may vary. Check the LOCK switch on the SD Card. The camera can not save images to an SD Card when it is in the lock protected position. If the SD Card is NEW, it may be necessary to FORMAT the card. This only applies to NEW SD Cards. If you format a card with images, all images will be erased. You can FORMAT your card periodically to maximize capacity and erase 'unseen' files, please be sure to download all images before choosing FORMAT as all images will be erased. Your Toshiba Digital Camera is designed for use with SD Cards. MultiMedia Cards are similar in size and shape to SD Cards, although with close inspection you will find that SD Cards have a different 'PIN" connection configuration, are slightly thicker in size, and have a manual slide LOCK switch on the side. Toshiba Digital Cameras are not designed or guaranteed to accept MultiMedia Cards. Please be sure to look for SD Cards from Toshiba, Panasonic and Delkin, the leaders in SD Card Technology.
