My connection for the cable on the back of my tv is broken!

If you have RCA inputs for video and sound their will be a white and red which is audio and yellow is video. If you have a cable box that you use to change channels, this should have the RCA outputs for your audio and video. You will also have to set your tv to select that input to get the cable. Hope this helps

Hello,

Your power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Hope this will help in solving the problem....

Double vision with redness

Your TV most likely has one of two possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Picture doesnt look as clear as before.

If the colors are mis-aligned or letters are out of focus, you may need to repair. For mis-alignment you can push the flash-focus button on the front to autoconverge the colors. Replacing the CRTs would cost a fortune. If the picture has just degraded in brightness and clarity, you cold clean it out. You can safely clean the mirror and lenses, it can greatly increase your picture if its dirty. If you unplug your tv you can safely remove the back and gain access to the lenses. All it takes is a philips screwdriver. After you remove the back, you can remove the light barrier between the upper and lower half to free up some room. Take a dry scratch-free cloth and wipe the dust from the lenses. If they're grimy, use a little lens cleaner (liquids used sparingly here, electronics don't like liquids, be careful) You can look up into the top and see if the mirror is dirty. A flashlight shined on it will illuminate the dust/dirt if its there. If you don't smoke you likely won't need to clean the mirror, but it may need it. Use windex or similar for tough grime.. I can usually reach up to get the whole mirror but I've heard of using a swiffer mop to reach the top. Removing the screen is difficult but possible if needed to get inside. Don't touch the back of the screen but lightly with a rag to get cobwebs, etc.

Sony KP-53V85

My unit is 9 years old, almost 10 (in 2 months) and started the same a couple of months ago. The only way to fix it is to have them serviced by a tech and replace the projectors. Its just the age/use of the unit catching up with it.

Many resellers sold them with an offer to sell you an optional maintence service where they would fix/clean/replace the projectors for upto 5 years after purchase. I'm not sure if they even have the parts anymore since these tv's are no longer produced. After market repairs are likely to cost as much as or nearly as much as buying a new flat screen tv.

White dots/green lines

The problem could be in vertical blanking or video processor circuit. Also redish vertical lines may be from external RF or magnetic interference. Move set to new location away from appliances and speakers
