Hi my Sony Sony KP-46WT510 tv will not turn on. When you push the button the light blinks 8 times and the resets and blinks 8 times and so on but never turns on. Can anyone give me an idea what may be wrong with it and what to expect from the repair guy. Thanks for any help
8 blinks means that the High Voltage Block is shorted - part# 8-598-955-32 (about $80)

The TV turns on and has a color picture but now the right side of the screen has green and purple shadows on words and people on the screen. It makes it very blurry, but just on the right hand side of the screen.
Convergence IC's should be replaced before any alignment is
attempted ....part # STK392-560....You need two......mount
to large heatsink...............T.

I have had this television for almost 5 years; the manufactured date was July 2003. One day, the image on the television was all screwed up:
Subject
Video bowed in, convergence out, PS5001
Symptoms / Customer Description
Video bowed in and convergence is out.
[Primary Symptom Code: 1436 ]
Solution
Found PS5001 on G board was open.
HQ
Comments: Could be cold solder joint on one of the STK IC's on the D
Board. They run hot and the solder connection might have broken down
causing intermittent condition which could have opened the fuse on the
-22v line.
You can find the full repair manual Here!

when i turn on my tv the picture looks curved and the colors are also off.
Any idea what could be causing this?
You may have a convergence problem. Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos.
Here is a quick test....
Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.
Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.
You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.
If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.
You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick email and they will put one together for you. Their kits includes photo instruction guides, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

I got this TV from a family member the other day. I like it except for the fact that lighter colored images seem to wash out, or dull the other colors in the picture. It is particularly annoying during hockey games.
I've used the various adjustments in the menu and can't seem to get it under control.
Your TV most likely has one of two possible problems.
Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )
Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
Here is a quick test....

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.
Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Solution #2
What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

There are red shadow on the images could it be the bulbs that need to be replaced
its more likely needing the convergence ICs replaced. You can get the convergence repair kit for your model at the following link which contains both IC the six pico fuses and four of the feed resistors, The kit comes with instructions. Heres the link.

What are the specific pico fuses and resistors that need replacing when you do the convergence IC's? I replaced the IC's but the TV is still having the issue. Thanks!
There are six 3.15 amp picos use 3.5 amp when replacing and there are two 5 amp picos on the G board the resistors if needed are 4.7 ohm 1/2watt

picture appears curved and colors don't line-up together- looks like you need 3d glasses.
d7382,
Your convergence circuitry is bad. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4220499-change_projection_tv_convergence_ics which explains the problem, how to fix it and where to get the parts at the best price.
Thanks for using FixYa and the generous rating.

Double images, especially with red.
hi.
double image is caused by a faulty convergence circuitry. It needs repair, if you have a basic knowledge in electronics you can do it, just replace it with the new convergence kit.
