Is there a light flashing on the front? If you are getting a lamp light flashing you may need to order a lamp, that is a +/- $300 proposition. If you have a light flashing check for a repeating pattern, like codes on car flashing the check engine light. It may blink like 6 times successively then pause, then blink 6 more then repeat, this is a code 6, the codes will give some Idea of what is wrong (P.S. usually code 6 is a bad thermal fuse for the lamp on most Sony PROJO LCD's and would have to be changed out by a Technician).

go into the menu and select audio and change the audio to variable and set the speakers to internal if needed.

this sound like a picture tube that has gone out but may a circuitry problem and needs to be checked out by a profesional. Is the red tube lighting at all on any of the other inputs or menu?

I found as long as you have to codes any one will work. Also on the back of the remote package it will have a list of brands it is compatible with. Good luck

I just purchased a replacement lamp off ebay and the TV is working fine now. Color looks better too (which I guess I should have expected). Search for "REPLACEMENT LAMP SONY XL-2100U" on eBay and look for seller "niosales". I paid $129 out the door. Their are other auctions for this lamp you can check out. Make sure you look at lamps that include the entire lamp housing, not just the bulb.

go to image revison in menu and try. auto, 0, 1, 2, or 3 for best picture

usually the lamp light blinking red is an indication that the lamp has malfunctioned. Try removing the lamp housing and reinsertng it. if that doesnt help you will need a new lamp or ballast. most likely the lamp

according to the manual try unplugging the cord and waiting 5 minutes then replugging and trying again. If that doesnt help you may want to check the bulb as they have been known to shatter

The red LED for the the lamp may flash which CAN indicate that the cooling fan is not operating. This fan is typically very quiet and has failed on MANY units. It is behind the bulb at the very back of the TV and is not "user serviceable". My repair guy says this is common and you can at least observe the fan through the rear grill and if it is NOT turning, then it IS failing.

when you leave your TV (no matter what kind) and you leave it for long periods of time on a static image or something.. the image tends to burn in to the screen... so changing the glass would be a way to fix it.... the problem is that that kind of repairmen is more expensive and difficult than buying a new set...

Are the stripes u are talking abt look like these? If yes these are called Moiré patterns.
Here's How to fix them..

• If your system has a Moiré Reduction Control similar to those in computer monitors, then you can use it to reduce or eliminate the patterns. Just make sure, you write your default settings before you change it.

• Some folks have gotten electronic fixes (firmware or software) from TV manufacturers but results have been spotty at best.

Slightly defocusing the image via the mechanical focus of your set appears to be the best bet. This has been proven effective in various TVs. Be careful not to over do-it though so that you don't significantly degrade image sharpness.

Check PS1601 and PS1601 on the reverse side of the G board these are ceramic IC links (fuses rated at 2.5 Amp @50V)

How many times does it blink. It should be blinking a repeating code if its in protective shutdown mode. A continuos blinking with no pauses means.
No reply from the jungle IC(data bus is busy, shorted to ground or held
high), IK video path is defective.

The bulb wouldnt make it screech, that sounds like a bearing in the color wheel. You may want to consider getting a service manual for your set. Is the cooling fan running properly?  I'm just guessing, but it sounds like it could be overheating and shutting off, which allows it to cool off enough to turn on and overheat all over again.

if you are connecting the tv through RCA cables, then you are not plug in right the red and white cables that are standard for audio... like the yellow cable that its a standard for video signal..

check if that seems to be the problem..
