Hi Ross, This repair is quite easy, But before I tell you how to fix the problem I need to know have you gone in to the user menu & tried adjusting the convergence This will save time & expense for you ? If you havent then try this first it may sort it out without needing to dismantle the set. no the shape doesnt matter as long as the STK numbers are the same. I would make sure that the replacements are origional sanyo ICs as often the cheaper versions do not last very long.

sounds like the convergence ICs have failed. Will the red and blue move in all 4 directions when you try to adjust the convergence? If not the convergence ICs are bad replace both of them also check the resistors that power the ICs as they may be open as well.

First unplug set and remove back cover then you should see the three picture tubes . Using a soft cloth spray windex on the cloth then clean your lens and use the dry side to wipe away . Do not press hard as the lens are plastic . If you cannot see the tubes thru the back side you must enter thru the front . Would need to know make and model # of your set located on the if you need more assistance . If you are a smoker this could very well improve your picture . Good luck

Sounds like a bad solder joint in the power supply or if your audio stays when you lose the video its probably in the deflection circuit either vertical or horizontal. Check the yoke connections.pins for cracked solder as well as the vertical and horizontal outputs also around the flyback.

i had where the sun would cause symptoms and where the infred receiver has bad ground or chip has gone bad.

there is a capacitor right behind hori output transistor it most of the time goes bad 1200pf 2k volts,yours could be on its way out,when it does set will not come back on.

you most likely have bad STKs 392-110s or120s this will cause your problem!

Can you do this? Take the back off and look next to the transformer (has large red wires coming out) and have someone turn on the set and if you see a glowing device next to the transformer then the High voltage splitter is bad and if no glow then transformer is bad. This is for information purposes only. Changing these parts is for the trained only and could cost on average $300 parts and labor depending on the repairman and location you are living.

test your power supply output voltages, make sure the step down transformers are not leaking high voltage into the dc circuits. always start at the basics then work your way up or out. the most common problem for these late model tv's is power supply they just dont use quality parts anymore. in older tv's you could hear the high voltage arcs, snap today its rare for that to happen. I have a 32 inch LCD here now that actually blew a 1500 pico farad capacitor with no noise. that amazes me thats a pretty good sized capacitor, and they usually make some noise when they blow the top right off of them.

Sony uses 3.15 Amp pico fuses near / under heatsinks for
convergence IC's = 3 on one side, 3 on the other......
Mustard / brown in color, order fuses from HB Electronics....T.

Yep, the convergence IC's to start with. If you keep using this set the way it is, you will make the D as well as the G board go bad. Have the set repaired asap and do not use it like this. Good Luck

hi. if the rolling is slow that mean you have a fault in the vertical and sync seperate part of the tv and need a technical support to slove but if it is fast yo can set it up with the vertical hold knub in the back or you have to open the back cover carefully that if you know how to do that but be carefull tv is a dangerous set hazard , look for the vertical hols variable resistor and fix it to stup rollinf for the sound fault , if you hit the side of the tv does it comes normal ?/ if yes then some part need to be resolders dried up soldering pin
