Don't bedeterred by the dating of this announcement, it is a manufacturing fault and they have been pr5etty good to a lot of people with the same problem.

hi if you've fitted a new lamp, make sure the lamp door is securely fitted, and clear the lamp counter thanks shaun

Power supply capacitors, try taking a hair dryer and put it on the vents in the back and see if it will come on after warming it up for 3 or 4 mins, if it does its capacitors, you can replace them yourself if you can solder or replace the power board.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. The failure(s) in your TV is related to a part called light engine or optical block and Sony TVs are known for these kind of failures with the video showing with different colors or lines. follow the power cord and just check the input fuse if you've got a surge protector on it it may have just blown the fuse from a spike. It doesn't hurt to try. This fuse is inside the tv.

sounds like a convergence problem. If this set has magic focus, use it.

at the back you will see a dvi port .you can use this to connect to your pc but you need advi cable

The power supply or part of it can be going in to protect mode because something is failing causing improper loading. This can even be the power supply itself. The only way to know is to try the different modules in the set. Once you get to the module that is failing, you leave the new on installed. This is how these sets are serviced. It is a similar approach to how computers are serviced.

SMPS (switching mode power supply) capacitors are the wrong voltage on the smps board

It is the fuse. Very easy to install that will solve the problem

di you replace the lamp balstor and whach the green led in frint of set it will blink and count the blink it could be a number of thing 1 fan not spinnig fast, lamp balstor bad lamp have you replace the lamp ?

i also have the same problem with the flashing green light for a while then a different red light starts blinking on and off around 5 times....and i replaced my burnt bulb with a new one...still no picture.

You should do a regular cleaning maintenance to the air filter and exchange it regularly. Small dust particules may get into the internal projection module and those spots became visible.

Apparently, You did not buy a Philips replacement lamp. The knock-offs out there alter the voltage causing this TV set all kinds of problems.

5 blinks is lamp driver error, but is usually the lamp. Else it's the lamp driver (ballast), if it has the ~280VDC coming to it.

New bulb is just fine.
3 blink shows that lamp cover after replacement of bulb in TV is not fixed properly or not seated well in its position.
Put new bulb and carefully place back lamp cover in its position because lamp cover will press tinny safety switch inside that will send signal to system control of TV that lamp is installed properly.
Turn On TV and get vivid picture of Sony.
