Sony mds je480 dont know how to switch auto pause
Most Sony MD's 'Auto Pause' feature can only be turned on & off with the remote. I am still unsure whether this is a feature on the JE480. I am led to believe that it is however you will need an older model's remote to turn it on & off. You need to locate the 'A-Space' button and press until 'A Pause' appears in the display. You can now turn it on or off. Good luck.

Nonsense regarding spares. I'm reading this in 2021 and spares are still available for MDS-JE480, I am sitting in front of one now as I type this.
New-old-stock laser assemblies and complete transports are available to import from China, Japan and Hongkong. Search on aliexpress for example, or join the facebook group "Minidisc Repair"
Can i clean a disc
The JE480 Mini Disc Player has a record feature so recordable minidisks can be erased and reused
Wont load Disks error c13
The error statement indicates the disc cannot be read by the recorder, it may be dirty or damaged or recorded in an extended format which this deck cannot read.

Deck cannot read disc for some reason - try another disc.
When i press the record button , i get Dinunlock c71
The source you are recording from cannot be read from; you slected a source without a connection, you have a digital source which has copy guard to prevent recording from it...
Check your input selector setting and your cables and the cables on the component you are trying to record from.
If optical in rare instances you are trying to record 5.1 or 7.1 encoded sound to older stereo on the deck - you can do this with an optical decoder box available on ebay without it all is connected correctly but it won't work.

You might try another sony MD remote as their dirty little secret is many of the codes are similar. So another sony MD remote may give you most of the functions you need.
I found a rare MD remote I needed but was unwilling to pay $60USD for at a local resale shop for 99 cents so it can't hurt to try there or any electronics or tech junk shows you might happen on nearby.

It cannot read your disc for some reason... Bad disc, recorded in an extended format by a higher level machine are possibilities...
