did you find a fix with that problem as i have the same issue when connecting Blue ray into BD port with HD cable! is the unit not able to handle sound and video on the bd port?

If there is a problem with the receiver itself you would want to have it serviced/repaired. Or consider replacing it. You could get a used or new 5.1 receiver for quite cheap. Most times much cheaper then the cost of repair. I assume you switched out another speaker and the same noise came from that speaker and that is why you assume its the receiver. You are using a new HD Cable box, that are using componet video cables for HD, Unfortunetly this receiver does not have componet inputs, so you will just have to run the audio from the televison directly to the receiver by connecting the video out and audio out from the television to the receiver's video Input one. This will require a normal RCA composite cables yellow,red,white. Connect one end of each of the cables to televisions output terminals, and the other to the input one on the receiver. Note: Your TV might have a seperate term called Monitor out, Connect the yellow here, and the red and white to audio out. You can do the same for the DVD but you have to use the same cables,Also the television will not display HD picture this way as this is not a HDTV Receiver. If you just want TV sound to the receiver then do not use the video(Yellow) cable just use the audio out terminals from the tv and connect to Input one on the receiver. you can do this with the cable box also but you have to use RCA type cables . If you want the full HD experience then a new up todate receiver is necessary.

On the stanby power supply replace or have replaced C899 with a 100uf 35V capacitor, this capacitor goes bad and produces hum in the supply voltage to the AM FM circuits.

There is not reason this would click and not turn on. If it just clicked, it would likely be caused by interference from another appliance, typically a fridge or freezer. The most likely reason is a relay in the internal power supply. The record deck is known as a PS-LK47P. If you wish, another deck will work as long as it has a magnetic cartridge and no preamp built in. A Technics SL-1200 is the sort that is fine and a definate upgrade.
