In most cases when the CD does not play it is possible that the optical head is a suspect. Sometimes it might pick up ordinary audio CD but will not play other formats. This indicates that the optical head is weak and so there is no detection or scanning of the CD . If the optical is working the tracks will be read immediately but with no scanning the laser head can be defective.
Sometimes certain cleaner disks will not be tracked to run for cleaning as it will not be read and so will reject. Hence it is ideal to manually clean the laser head eye using a cleaning swap /cotton bud with gentle pressure on the lens eye.
If there is no result then watch if the CD spins or tries to spin. If so the board seems to work unless a test is taken on the main board but the possibility of a defective optical head can be the suspected fault.
If any of the above seems otherwise we must recheck with possibilities of a malfunction of the main processor board

the unit has suffered damage internally and a service tech could diagnose the problem after opening the unit up to see if there is any damage to the main board or its components.

This is not good news for you. Most often when you get this protect mode on these, it is the amplifier circuit that has gone bad. Sometimes it is the power supply that causes it, but more often it is the amp.They are very difficult to troubleshoot, so you really should just take it to a service center for repair, unless you have some good electronic troubleshooting skills, then you could take a crack at it yourself. But it does have some serious electronic problem that is not an easy fix at user level, It will require a technician with the proper tools to isolate the problem and repair it.

this is a common problem and all you really can do is to turn the speakers off when you are not using them which is also good for your energy bill!!!

Be sure NOT to load any CD+ -R,CD+-RW or DVD+-R,DVD+-RW to this unit.
Try to load up a standard CD see if there is audio first. If so,try a good(not scratches) dvd movie.If you have tried both and still not working.You need this unit to be repair or buy a new one!

Try use connect your dvd player with just RCA(composite video) and see if you get regular color picture.If so,you need to go to the system menu to check the video output and see if it is under R Pr Pb-component video setting?If not,be sure to change it to component video setting AND use component video cable to connect to your TV unless your TV don't have this connection.

Go to your TV remote, in the menu find the closed caption or sometimes it is on the remote itself. Turn off the closed caption. this should solve your problem. Good Luck

There is not reason this would click and not turn on. If it just clicked, it would likely be caused by interference from another appliance, typically a fridge or freezer. The most likely reason is a relay in the internal power supply.
