The error means that the player is unable to read the table of contents (TOC) on discs any more.If it's an occasional error then you can try switching to TDK blanks as they seem to be easier for flaky players to read, but if it's happening regularly to all discs then your machine is unrepairable due to a total lack of spare parts.

On the plus side, there are millions of MD units now lying unused as folks have moved on from them and as they're mostly worthless people don't generally bother with trying to sell them. Almost every piece of MD gear I own has come free of charge via my local FreeCycle and Freegle groups. Whatever you do, don't buy a used player from anyone: they're all getting on now and the TOC error is an age-related fault which may occur at any time.

If you wish to see exactly what features other machines have then visit the superb equipment browser at minidisc.org. The site is hosted but n longer maintained though so some information is out of date, but it's still the most comprehensive source of free information about MD available.

Sorry here's probably no hope for your player, but I hope that my reply has given you a practical alternative means of solving your problem.

The C13 read error on Sony minidisc means that the Table Of Contents (TOC) cannot be read.

The Minidisc is a magneto-optical device that uses combined laser and magnetic technology to write ad re-write the tracks, and magnetic head only to read.

If the problem is only with a specific disk or with few disks, then this is probably because of faulty media. In that case the content on the specific disks may be lost.

If this happens with every disc, including blanks, or with the majority of disks, then it is usually because the magnetic heads are dirty or faulty.

Additionally, when problem is the head, the motor will spin the disk, if motor does not spin at all, then the microswitch that starts motor and the motor itself must be tested.

To clean the heads (there is more than one on a minidisc) use Sony Dvm-12cld : Minidisc Head Cleaner.

If that does not work, the heads must be replaced doing a precision soldering inside minidisc deck, and without moving or damaging nearby laser assembly, and other parts in there. In that case better having the job done by a technician, as this is a very delicate repair, the part from sony is not expensive.

Battery is 100% discharged. Therefore, PC's USB with 5V/500mA set up has not enough power to start up the charging process because loading current is greater than the set up, therefore USB is disabled immediately due to sudden current load.
Battery must not be discharged 100%
If it happens then the supplied AC adaptor must be used firstly because it is providing 5V/800mA power. After a couple of minutes the unit can be connected to PC without problem then it can continue the charging during file transfer, etc.

I suspect there is either a problem with the radio (AM side) or most likely it is a matter of poor AM signal strength where you are and/or high levels of interference.

With FM reception the wire lead of the earphones acts as a fairly efficient antenna but AM reception is via the internal ferrite rod aerial that also is part of the tuned circuit and consequently is not only highly directional but is sensitive to vertical/horizontal orientation - if the signal is polarised vertical the antenna is more efficient when it too is vertical, unfortunately horizontal polarisation is more common.

Development of AM receivers stopped decades ago due to it falling out of favour because of high levels of interference around population centres causing much dissatisfaction and a move to FM and over the last two decades an increased interest in digital radio.

There's so much information missing from this question, but assuming this is a DVD changer, it's a disc error. Either the disc is upside-down or backwards and can't be read, is too dirty/scratched or unsupported and can't be read, or the entire mechanism is jammed or malfunctioning. If there are discs in the tray and you can remove them all, remove them and see if the error goes away. If the tray will not open, either take the cover off and remove the discs, or bring it to a service center.
