Error message with grinding noise as driver cycles
Make sure the little spring loaded side fingers that grab and hold the cart onto the printhead are not broken. With the unit off, slowly move the carriage all the way left then right to check for a good belt and free movement. Take the carts out and tilt the printer back and forth to see if something has broken off inside, check to make sure nothing has fallen into the paper rollers from behind.

Reset alps md2010 printer. Printer will not turn on.
there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to reset it:
- Check Power Connection: Ensure that the printer's power cable is securely plugged into both the printer and a working power outlet. You may also try using a different power outlet to verify that the issue is not related to the power source.
- Check Power Adapter: If your printer uses an external power adapter, check its LED indicator (if present) to see if it's receiving power. If the LED is not lit, the power adapter might be faulty, and you may need to replace it.
- Inspect Power Switch: Make sure the power switch on the printer is in the "ON" position. Sometimes, the switch might get accidentally toggled or stuck.
- Test Different Power Cable: If you have access to another power cable compatible with your printer, try using it to eliminate the possibility of a faulty cable.
- Clear Paper Jams: Check the printer for any paper jams or obstructions. A paper jam could prevent the printer from turning on.
- Reset Printer's Internal Circuit: Some printers have an internal circuit or fuse that could trip in case of a power surge or other electrical issues. Locate the printer's user manual or contact the manufacturer to find out if your printer has such a feature and how to reset it.
- Perform a Hard Reset: If none of the above steps work, you can try performing a hard reset on the printer. To do this, unplug the printer from the power source and wait for about 10-15 minutes. Then, plug it back in and try turning it on again. This can sometimes clear any temporary issues
Alps md5000 printer driver
Sorry, there are no Windows 7 Drivers. There are a couple of work arounds. I use an older laptop with Windows XP. The XP drivers are easy to find on line. There is another way, but I have not tried it. It's using XP compatibility mode in Win 7.
How to open option setting tab on MD5500
Try using the property settings for the printer. I'm using Win XP SP2. Go to Printers and Faxes, and right click the ALPS 5500 printer. The properties setting should be at the bottom of the menu. Alternatively, you can access the printer properties settings when in application by clicking on File, Print, and then properties.

Unplug the printer from power source then turn it on and leave it for 10secs. while unplugged to reset the system. Once the system is resetted you'll be good. Alps MD 5500\ file left in printer Que
Hi,
You should do:
- From the Start menu select "Printer and Faxes"
(Access that folder in different ways)
- Printer and Faxes window opens.
- You will se there a printer icon named "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" checked as your default printer.
It prints to file. When you try to print using that printer as default, it asks a file name to print the document which you wanted. When you write s document name it writes the document in that file and saves in the folder.
- If you installed your Alps printer driver correctly, you will se the name of your printer there.
- Right click on that "Alps MD 5500..." printer icon and select "set as default printer" option.
- Then try to print your document.
But if you have some documents waiting to print to a file in the memory first delete them to clear the print memory of PC.
To be sure, restart your computer. Then test to print.
Be sure that your Alps Printer should be selected as your default printer.
That's all.
Hope this helps.
