chances are the lens on the optical pickup is dirty and needs cleaning. you can blow out any dust with canned air and use a lens cleaning disk to clean off the lens. they sell them at any electronics store. if that doesn't work or the disk doesn't spin at all, you'll have to replace the optical pickup assembly or the whole cd player..

Yes, it is possible. The Cambridge CD4 deck would be an external signal source of the sound card of the computer. Basically, the R/L Audio OUTPUT of the deck would be connected to the AUX or LINE IN of the PC. A RCA to stereo 3.5mm plug would be needed similar to what is shown below.

Thereafter, enable the AUX/LINE IN in both playback and recording modes of the Volume Control Properties.

Are you using the charging cables that came with it? That is a type C. Are you securely attaching the charging cable? A loose connection would keep the battery from charging. If you had a low battery, you would see a red light. That you have no light at all suggests there is no charge left in the battery.
