Connecting laptop to tv with s-video
What trouble are you having? I can tell you for certain, once you do get connected with S-Video the picture quality is going to be VERY poor intact almost unusable. I see the TV appears to be a 32" CRT (bulky) type but what is the make and model of laptop?

My rRimont Control does not work
Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries inserted. Check the battery contacts inside its battery compartment, for any rust or dust accumulated, which prevents proper contact to battery poles. Clean it well before inserting batteries. For more information

Picture too tall. How do you shorten?
Picture displaced vertically, picture too high or low
This problem was cured by entering the service mode (menu then
4,7,2,5), then pressing the green fastext button to access geometry
settings, selecting VP1 (vertical position) and adjusting as necessary
Very low width and bowed verticals,no ew correction. R626 o/c
C630 (390nF, 300v) faulty, located next to scan socket. This fault can
also be caused by R629 (2R7 fusable) o/c. In my set C630 was
dry-jointed but not faulty. Check generally for dry joints in the E/W
and PSU areas. Note that R629 is a safety component

No, that isn't normal. If the TV has two speakers, it's capable of playing audio in stereo. If one of the speakers isn't working no matter what channel you're watching (some channels don't broadcast in stereo) the TV needs to be repaired in order to fix the problem.

Self repair or need a pro?
Hi there!
If your knowledge does not go beyond the outside of the TV, I would advise a repairer. Good luck,JUS004

I have an old Sylvania tv and it won't turn on
Here are some troubleshooting tips to try. However, as it is an older set, if these tips fail, the cost of a repair at a shop might exceed the value of the TV. In short, a new TV may be in the works. Cross your fingers. One of these tips may work.
Let's troubleshoot the issue and try to get it working:
If you are using a remote, check the batteries in it. If you are using several remotes with it, try the alternative remote. Sometimes there is a glitch affecting the remote for a Roku where it won't turn on the TV other than a powered black screen and you have to use the other remote to turn it off and back on and then the Roku screen pops up. I have not sorted out why.
Check Power Cord and Connections:
First, ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into both the TV and the electrical outlet.
If you suspect a faulty power cord, consider trying a different one.
Reset the TV:
While most Sylvania TVs don't have a dedicated reset button, you can perform a manual reset:
Unplug the TV's AC adapter from the electrical socket.
Press and hold the Power button on the TV for 20 seconds.
Plug the AC adapter back in and turn on the TV.
Check Audio/Video Cables:
Inspect the audio/video cables connecting your TV to the satellite or cable receiver.
Ensure that the color-coded prongs match their respective connecting points.
Correct any mismatches (e.g., white cable into a red port) by reorganizing the prongs.
Inspect Coaxial Cable:
Look for the coaxial cable on the rear side of the receiver, attached to the port labeled as ANT IN.
Confirm that the connection is firm; a loose coaxial connection can cause display issues.
Tighten the cable by pinching the silver band on the end and rotating it clockwise until secure.
Check for Interference:
If distortion continues on the TV screen, consider nearby interference.
Power-hungry appliances can cause electronic interference, affecting display quality.
Visit a Repair Shop:
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, you may need professional help.
Some technical faults, such as a blown fuse or faulty capacitor, require expertise in dismantling and soldering.
If uncomfortable with such tasks, consider visiting a repair shop

I have a 37in limited edition Sylvania TV I have tried every code on my Phillips universal remote none work. Is there a specific code.
- Auto Code Search:
- Turn on your Sylvania TV.
- Press and hold the "Code Search" button on your Philips remote until the indicator light stays on.
- Press the "TV" button on the remote to set it to control the TV.
- Press the "Power" button repeatedly until the TV turns off.
- Press the "OK" or "Enter" button to save the code.
- Manual Code Entry:
- Find the code for your Sylvania TV in the Philips remote control manual. If you don't have the manual, you may be able to find it on the Philips website.
- Turn on your Sylvania TV.
- Press and hold the "Code Search" button on the remote until the indicator light stays on.
- Enter the code using the number buttons on the remote.
- Test if the remote now controls your TV. If not, repeat the process with a different code.
- Try Common Codes:
- Some common Sylvania TV remote codes for Philips remotes are 0810, 1684, 1886, 2183, 1081, 1172, 1196, and 2049. Try entering these codes manually.
