You will have to get into the menu to be able to switch it on/off. You may be able to do it by using the buttons on the tv. If not, you will need to try to find an original remote for that tv. You can normally find one by searching google or even ebay.

I had the same problem programming my directv remote to recognize the ssc719c. What finally worked was programming AV1 (not 'TV') with the sylvania DVD code 20821. This allowed me to turn the tv on and off and change tv channels, but wouldn't allow me to mute or change the volume. To fix this, (at least in my case) you have to program your remote to recognize the volume and mute buttons in the AV1 slide setting. I assume other (non directv) remotes similarly disable the volume and mute buttons when the remote is not in satellite or tv mode. Anyway, here are the instructions that activated the volume & mute buttons on my remote: "Depending on how you set up your remote, the VOL and
MUTE may control the volume only on your TV, regardless
of the position of the MODE switch. This remote can be set
up so that the VOL and MUTE keys work only with the
component selected by the MODE switch. To enable this
feature, perform the following steps:
1. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys until the
green light under the DIRECTV position flashes twice,
then release both keys.
2. Using the number keys, enter 9-9-3. (The green light
will flash twice after the 3.)
3. Press and release the VOL+ key. (The green light
flashes 4 times.)
Now the VOL and MUTE keys will work only for the
component selected by the MODE switch position."

To sum up: if you find a code for your remote that will turn your tv on and off, but doesn't seem to do much of anything else, it's probably the right code; your remote is probably set up not to recognize volume or mute inputs in AV1 or AV2. You change that using a remote-specific code that's probably found somewhere on the remote maker's website.

It sounds to me like you have a problem with the reel sensors not detecting movement of the tape through the VCR. This could also be caused by a defective voltage regulator(s) that powers the sensors. This model was made by symphonic/funai (1-800-242-7158), and it is not likely worth repairing.

Try a reset to this TV and check. There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

It's the fuse in the electric engine. You can bypass this fuse by cutting it off and then you just connect the two ends together, wrap with electrical tape. It'll work, that's what I did to mine. Works great again

Did you finalize the DVD before you removed it from the VCR/DVD recorder? Until a disc is finalized, it won't work on another device. If you left some space, try to finalize it now. Does the disc play when in that Sylvania unit? It is possible that the unit is faulty and didn't focus the laser properly for writing to the DVD. (If you actually tried to burn to a CD and not a DVD-R, then no data was written to the disc. There are slight differences to the laser settings for CDs and DVDs.)

I hope this helps.

Better late than never. The problem is that your TV is in the service mode. There are many ways this can happen. But, lets just get down to fixin this! With the original remote and the TV on. If the TV will not shut off, do this. Press the left cursor button on the remote, followed with pressing the right cursor. Power off the TV with remote, or press off button on TV.

Secondly, your TV will power on and off. But you have flashing colors. Do this. With the original remote and TV on. Press the up cursor button, on the remote, followed with pressing the down cursor. Power off TV with remote, or press off power of TV. Thanks for asking me, Matt of Martins TV Repair.

Curtis International which made the Sylvania clock radio no longer has any support for its legacy electronics. ManualsLib has manuals for several Sylvania clock radio models here: https://www.manualslib.com/brand/sylvania/clock-radio.html . They have a link for the SCR1388B, https://www.manualslib.com/manual/944856/Sylvania.html . This document doesn't list the SCR1388B on the cover page. However, the two clock radios are probably similar enough that the manual will help you use your clock radio. If this manual doesn't provide enough details, please check some of the other manuals listed at the first link above.

I hope this helps. ManualsLib does provide an option to get the manual as a PDF. See the Download button near the top of the page. You will need to go through some CAPTCHA checks to download the file as a PDF.

Hi Elsie-
If you do not have the remote, you can change inputs by doing the following:
Changing inputs Inputs are selected by using a number of methods, depending on the model of your Sylvania TV. Switching inputs is usually accomplished by pressing the "Input Select" button on the remote. Each press will simply cycle through each available input on your TV. If no remote is available, the front panel has a button that matches the function on the remote. This button is located on the bottom-right side of the TV and doubles as the "Enter" button when accessing onscreen menus.

Hope this helps.
