Fuji FinePix S602 Zoom Digital Camera - Page 4 Questions & Answers
Camera won't turn on
Either your camera board is dead, or you are not using the right batteries. There are 2 types of AA batteries on the market today. One type is the normal 1.5V batteries. The other is the special lithium batteries that run a slightly higher voltage, usually about 2V. Many camera owners do not know this fact.
Bent pins on my finepix s602 zoom
It depends on how much the pin/s are bent. Having said that, I recently aquired the S602 Zoom that has this problem. I contacted Fiji who said they could fix it for £97. I opted to give it a shot myself. I used a fine sharpened steel rod to lift the bent pin enough to slide a thin steel flat bar under the bent pin. (I made both of these tools myself with a grinding stone and scrap stuff I had lying about)Then I carefully raised the pin upright again. Finally I used a hollow, strong, thin steel tube (I used a dissasembled watch strap pin from an old watch) and holding it in needle nosed pliers I used it to straighten out the pin and re-set it in place. It worked fine for me but your situation my more complex/different.
Card initialization
If you have a memory card reader on your computer you may need to insert the cameras memory card and then goto My Computer and right click where the card is located and click format.
Fuji s602
Replace it - these thing sdont get fixed
Card Error message
Your card may have become corrupted, there are good free utilities out there to save such files from corrupted memory cards, try DIR (Digital Image Recovery) that you can use with a computer card reader if the computer does not recognize your connected camera as an external hard drive.
If you were able to recover your files, format the card in the camera, that should solve your problem using the card.
If the card cannot be recognized by the computer or formatting the card doesn't help, you may have a defective memory card, try another one.
If the card works otherwise but is still not recognized by the camera you may have a defective memory card connector or other camera motherboard problem, sorry.
Hope this helped...
Blurred Pictures
1. What is the focal length of lens you are using?
2. Is the blur occurring with lens with a lower focal length than the telelens?
3. Do you still get a blur when you use the telelens with a tripod or a firm base?

Drivers
Look it up on fuji's site, the driver file is quite small, no need to install fuji's bloated full suite of apps.
First run the driver install and then plug the camera in, not the other way around, if you did, you may have to reboot the computer first and try again.
If the camera is still not recognized, make sure you are in DSC mode (select Setup on the camera). If that doesn't help you may have a bad cable or a bad camera port (the connector, being very small, is very fragile).

Adjusting light??
Did you check your settings? You may be outside of the range (red figures for speed and or f stop) in your selected mode, for example if you selected 1600 ISO for indoor shots and forgot to set it back to a lower ISO value.
Alternatively you can use AUTO mode, it's the most foolproof.
If you selected 1600 ISO don't forget, when you change the ISO to a lowe value, also put the camera back in high resolution, it stays in 1MP mode by default.

S602 zoom finepex
I recently accidently dropped my 602 in water and managed to take out all the aa sized batteries out of the camera with the exception of the internal battery which I could not access shaking out all of the water I left my camera to dry out for three days then I tried it to see if it worked but the was dead is there anything else I can do to revive my 602 other than taking it to get fixed and finding out that I have to discard my camera
Memory card
Because this camera only understads FAT16 formatting, it does not accept any card larger than 2GB so your best bet is to use the current crop of standard 2GB CF cards, most newer ones (usually 16X and faster) are alsa fast enough for continuous VGA video as well. The best brands IMO are Lexar and Sandisk, but avoid the WA enabled cards, this camera can't make use of WA, it just slows the througput down.
Alternatively you may partition your 8GB card to a 2GB partition, but the rest of the card won't be accessible.
Battery compartment cover
They really want you to buy a new camera instead!
TAPE it shut!
Otherwise you can sometimes find equipment sold 'as-is' for parts on eBay or other internet sites.
Do a web-search for it.
Fuji Finepix S602Z
Since you can see it when taking new pictures but not on old photos then that suggests that the part of the image sensor is faulty. I think this would make it a camera repair shop job as the S602's can't be taken to bits easily.
Drivers
You shouldn't need a driver for xp and above as it will be detected as a generic card reader..(As per the manual information)
Having said that there is a driver available from the Fuji site..

I remember finding this confusing when I was looking for a driver for my S602
Can't save photos
the problem was I did't configure the exposure correctly for work in manual mode
I mean I set the aperture and speeds correctly so that the camera is able to take a good picture For example I try to set the speed at 125th of a sec. and the aperture at f8. So now I can take good pictures.
thanks.
Fuji FinePix S602 Zoom - Black strip down picture
If you see the black line on your images and it is a very crisp clear line then it is an issue with the cameras image sensor. If the line is less crisp and clear then it may be a more simple of contamination in/on the lens.
If the line is crisp and clear and the camera is under warranty get it fixed or replaced. If it is out of warranty look into getting the CCD component replaced at a repair facility. There is an outside chance that it is just the connector which bridges the sensor to the processing board - but that usually manifests all over the image, not just in 1 strip.

Fuji finepix s602
Usually a bad card in my experience - I'm too tight to buy decent cards, and quite a few have given me problems. Luckily they're quite cheap nowadays!!
You could try using a PC with card reader to format them first, and cleaning the contacts carefully.
Hope this helps.
Memory card
you must "format" the memory with your camera, not with computers, select "format" on the menu ,while your trying to see the pictures, good luck
How do i change to manual focus mode?
there is a switch on the barrel that switches from MF to AF (manual to auto)
