Fuji finepix usb cord

You can check on Fuji.com. It could be a proprietary cable.

Some cameras use what is called a USB D plug. It has regular usb end on one side and a small d shaped end on the other. If that is the cable you need, most electronic stores carry those.

Need software for my camera

Hi...what operating system are you using, and did the camera come with the USB cord needed to to connect to the computer;
Also, if you are using XP or Vista, you should be able to plug that cord into your camera and computer and the operating system should recognize it....
Heres a link to a firmware update for your camera, if you need it:

Fuji CAmeras

if the software isn't available on the fuji website (http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/index.html) usually the cheapest faster and far better option is to buy a card reader for your computer and download the pictures straight off the card.

Memory card for Olympus FE270

The larger the image, the more space it consumes, your new camera is producing files that are twice as large as the old one did. Buy a larger memory card, they are quite inexpensive these days.

512 MB card problem

If the new 512mb xD card has a prefix of "H" or "M" before the 512, it is not compatable with your A330 unless a firmware upgrade is performed on the camera. You can download all the details here http://www.fujifilm.ca/x3720.xml

Wierd pictures

This is caused by a shutter that is stuck open. Normally the shutter closes right at the moment that you snap the picture and allows the image sensor to record what it saw at that moment. When the shutter does not close as intended the image sensor cannot properly record the image. This is why here are the lines across your images. The shutter can stick either due to an impact knocking the delicate blades off their tracks, or due to dust or moisture contamination sticking them open or closed. If gently tapping does not free them; the camera will require professional repair. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

Finepix 500 camera digital

Steven,

Sorry to say there are no user replaceable fuses anything to replace yourself if you used the wrong AC adapter/charger on your Finepix 500 digital camera.

It's most likely the internal voltage regulator was blown out on the main power supply board inside.

If the camera is still under factory warranty or if you bought the extended warranty you can get it repaired most likely for free depending on the fine print of the warranty itself? Usually it covers everything.

What was/is the normal voltage rating of the CORRECT charger that you failed to use, and what is the voltage rating on the WRONG charger that you used by mistake?

I might be able to decipher how much possible internal damage was done based on that?

Let me know?

Best regards,

Frank

FinePix A330 zoom error

I'm afraid the little "bump" you speak of was more like a very big "jar" as far as digital cameras are concerned.

Not all digital cameras are created equal, and if you are an active sports person, or something close to it whereas your camera is subject to or exposed to this kind of rough treatment then you might want to consider doing several things from now on.

Unfortunately it sounds like you dislodged the imagining converting pixel matrix chip and/or the related optical components that convert the optical picture information into digital information that is processed to the memory card for storage.

You may have even possibly dislodged some PC connectors (printed circuit board connectors) inside the camera. Not to mention pulsed servo motor drive components as well.

Each camera is different as to how many individual circuit boards they have inside. Could be 3-4-5 or more. Each is interfaced by a flat interface type cable and it's possible that particular board cable could be damaged as well. Hard to say. Very very complex inside!

You only have one choice here -

In either case scenario above - your $200 camera will have to be taken in to a Fuji factory repair center if you choose to take that route. Thank God it's not a Sony, as then it would cost you $40-50 for them just to look at it! I hate Sony myself! Rip offs! I won't buy anything of theirs anymore, as they burned me twice before years ago - and twice was enough....

Because the/your 2004 model year FinePix A330 is possibly near that 4 years old mark now - depending on when you actually bought it - here's what I would do.

If they want to charge you anything just to look at it - pass on that!

Count your losses - lost - at this point, and go out and just buy another good quality camera of your choice. Prices have dropped a lot in the past 4 years. Still buy another camera that uses XD memory so you don't have to buy all new storage media cards. XD cards are surely the best I feel - as far as durability & size goes - no doubt about that part!

If you do decide to go with a new camera this time around - buy a good quality PADDED case for your camera, and get a good "neck strap" for it as well to support your camera. Those ridiculous wrist straps are a big NO NO if you really value any camera of yours. I treat my Olympus C-740 like it was my baby! Literally! Anything you wouldn't do with a real life human baby - then you wouldn't do with your camera as well. Goes hand in hand!!

My SAMSONITE brand padded nylon camera case that I found at either TARGET or else FRYS Electronic store cost me less then $12, and it works just great! Best one I ever found! Holds all my XD memory cards up to (6) total in the original factory plastic snap cases they come in - all in a separate leather zip up case - plus 2 full sets (8 total) of Ni-MH rechargeable batts.

Even though my $300 C-740 camera only cost me ~$155 with tax - after a 50% store rebate at Office Depot in June of 2005 - I cherish it dearly, as I waited a long time for the price to drop on it.

Just can't be too careful with digital cameras these days.

Hope this repair/fix feedback has helped you to make a solid decision on the next step, as that choice will be yours alone. Sorry - I can't help you further.

Best regards,

Frank

Please read these/the 2 posts that I posted prior for a similar XD mem card problem, as I firmly believe you are "formatting" your mem card improperly using your home computer instead of "formatting" the card on your camera.

Also the XD type card & size are very important also!!

What you will have to do is read and download the photos you have on that XD card using the same "card reader" you used before and then properly "re-format" that card in your "CAMERA ONLY". This should solve your XD card problems.

PRIOR POSTS:

Kristina,

Not knowing what model Olympus camera you have, or how old it is - your new memory card "format" problem is one of 3 possibilities.

1st - If you have an older Olympus camera more then 4-5 years old the newer M & H series type cards over 256mb will probably not work in your older camera, as by the camera's internal firmware chip design of the camera itself. Some cameras were upgradeable some weren't as to the internal firmware chip as well as available software drivers depending on which computer OS system you were using ie: (WIN98SE, WIN2000, etc). Has to do with the memory card read/write chip speed as well, and also has to do with the physical storage size of the card itself. Some digital cameras were MAXED OUT at 512mb cards, some as low as 256mb. A 2gb card simple won't work in that/your camera in that case.

If you read the camera's user manual it will possibly tell you this, or else go online to www.olympusamerica.com and use this link:

View which cameras are compatible

Select camera model series and scroll down the model # and research the max card size & type you can use (3 basic XD card speed types available - regular XD - M type - H type).

If you are using the wrong type & size card you will need to return that card (if you can) and get the right XD size & type for your camera.

2nd - You should always FORMAT (same as ERASE ALL and FORMAT modes on most Olympus cameras) the new card, or any XD card for that matter in your camera itself. NOT THE HOME COMPUTER!!! The 2 format procedures are not the same!!

If you are re-shooting (re-using) the same XD card over and over again and then downloading the JPEG pix directly to the computer using a USB interface cable there usually is no need to re-format the card again as long as the XD card stays the camera and is not downloaded into a home computer via a "card reader". If you do the latter "card reader" then I would advise doing a card re-format in the camera again just to be safe!!

And lastly - If your home computer recognizes the XD card via a good "card reader" (do not FORMAT the XD card here btw, as you are just checking the card out to see it is GOOD is all), but the camera will not then that is a good sign your camera is OK, but it's just the wrong type & size XD card.

Hope this helps solve your camera XD problem not knowing which model you have.

Best regards,

Frank

AND:

Follow up to previous post:

I didn't have the time to access the exact link below to check on your specific 2004 model year camera because I missed the Fuji camera model part, as I'm brand new to this site - so please forgive my previous oversight here.

I was right though in my initial posted assumption that you bought the wrong XD memory card based on your Fuji FinePix A330 Digital Camera - as to it's older model year - in that your camera is limited to a 512mb memory card.

Make sure you buy the 512mb standard card if you still can find them. Otherwise check with Fuji Corp to make sure the M type card (faster read/write chip) will work in your specific model. The M type cards work just fine in my Olympus C-740 even though it was told to me they wouldn't work at all, but each digital camera is slightly different as to it's internal firmware (BIOS) chip.

See the following camera info for your specific model at the link below under Storage Media:

Steves Digicams - Fujifilm FinePix A330 - User Review

I hope this now clears up any prior confusion from the previous post.

Best regards,

Frank
