If there is an internal battery, it's only function would be to maintain the date and time. It would have nothing to do with powering the camera.

Camera showing flat batteries

May not work on yours but I have (hopefully had) same issue. I found that it will stay on if you keep pressing shutter to focus or switch straight to video and record - it stays on until you finish recording. I don't know why but after I moved the focus switch from caf to manual, took a couple of pictures and put it back to caf it now stays on.

That was only yesterday though so I cant say its permanently fixed yet.

Let me know if it helps.

Cameras can be like cars. Better to keep trading them in for the newer model before they are worthless. Yes, that is the broken gears you are hearing. It may be fixable, but probably not worth the 2 hours of labor from a professional to fix it. It could just be a grain of sand in the gearbox if you are willing to spend the time to go look.

Your camera's Colour has been set to "Black and White". Select the camera icon on the power selector, and 'auto' on the mode selector. Press the menu button, and use left and right to find the "Finepix Color" setting. Use the up and down to select "Standard" instead of "Black and White".

Hello - from a fellow Fuji user.
I'm assuming the pictures are looking OK on the PC when you download. If so this will be a LCD fault.
If NOT and the downloaded pictures are the same on the screen and the PC , then it looks like a sensor problem (CCD chip). I just did a quick search on the google.co.uk site and could only find 4 complaints , so it's pretty rare.
Try re-formatting the SD card just to eliminate that from the equation --
http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fujifilm/152895-fuji-finepix-s7000.html
Plus there are S7000 forums to ask like http://forums.techguy.org/digital-photography-imaging/562485-fuji-finepix-s7000-problem.html
Hope this helps , but , if it's a sensor problem I hope it's still under warrantee -- Ray

Leans moror cleaning

Your camera doesn't have a mirror it uses an electronic viewfinder/LCD, also the lens is fixed so without complete dismantling of the camera the sensor can not be cleaned as with a "conventional" DSLR. I'm going to suggest if you feel the sensor requires cleaning I'd look at the front lens element and clean this with a lens cloth, the LCD screen can be cleaned with a lens cloth as well use a cloth not tissue.

Is there another memory card

Not a memory card, but something called a MicroDrive, which is actually a miniscule disk drive in a package about the size of a memory card. I don't know if these are even made anymore, though, and in any case, the largest size compatible with this camera is 1GB. You can easily get an XD card that size instead.

Fuji's compatibility chart is on THIS LINK

My camera wont format my

Bit of a problem with the details of this question. The Finepix S7000 does not use CF (Compact Flash) cards- it uses XD cards. I am not sure if the model is wrong in the title to your question or if you have misidentified the card.

In any case, the problem is almost certainly due to the card having too high a memory capacity for your camera to cope with. Memory cards have grown enormously in capacity in the last couple of years, and even relatively new cameras may not be able to cope with the memory size of the newest cards. The higher capacity cards are sometimes slightly altered in the way they work, too, such as the newer SDHC cards which look like SD cards and fit the same slots, but often won't work with older cameras.

It is often difficult to find out the maximum capacity memory card a camera will use, but Fujifilm have a compatibility chart for the S series cameras on their website, at THIS LINK

According to this chart, the S7000 will accept an XD card up to 2GB. If that is your camera, that should provide plenty of storage. You can always carry a spare 2GB card if you think you will need more space.

I would like to know

There are several battery saving techniques that can be addressed the first being using the viewfinder and limiting the use of the LCD as much as possible. Limit the use of the internal flash. I often switch to manual focus during cold weather to save on battery power. On my Fuji FinePix camera the rather odd looking in focus indicator provides a accurate guide for correct focus. It might take a little getting use too as it works like a bar graph with the center being optimum focus and you turn the lens barrel until the graph comes to meet the center line. Took a little before I understood what it was doing. What didn't take long was for me to see the power savings Manual had over the auto focus. Also there is a power off mode that can be set for 2 minute auto off, here is a diagram to show you were it is.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Windows Photo Gallery.
