Finepix A400
If the "!ZOOM ERROR" message is displayed on the digital camera, switch the camera off and on again 2 or 3 times.
If this does not clear the error, take the camera to your nearest FUJIFILM Service Station for testing and repairs. Problem may caused by lens zooming gears stuck.

After the basics (cleaning the lens, replacing the batteries, etc.), try dropping the camera on a carpeted area from about 2-3 feet. It worked for my Fuji A500 and 90% of the responders on the link. Everything on the web said it would cost ~$100 to fix. I was in the process of researching new cameras to buy and had nothing to lose by dropping it on the floor.
The error may be caused by debris in the zoom mechanism preventing it from working. Dropping the camera loosens the debris and voila!

This camera does not have the facility to take "black & white" photos. However it is easy to convert the colour pictures to black & white using software once they are on your PC.
Here is a great FREE utility that will do what you need:

FujiFilm FinePix A400 Movie Import
There should be sound when you playback right on the camera, unless your camera doesn't support movie with audio. I have an A345 which does so i'm assuming yours should. It's possible the volume on your camera is turned down too, you can turn it up by pressing the menu button, and scrolling over to option. To import the movie all you need to do is the same thing you do with pictures. You have to have set up the software on your computer first and then you use the usb cable it came with and plug it in.. the menu should pop up automatically and just choose to view files thru the finepix viewer and it will guide you through the import.
Hope that helps :)
Fuji S5500 camera and lens
It seems clear to me (and probobly to you as well) that the solution is to tighten up the lens. regarding the question if you can do it by yourself, i think the answer is probobly no. on one hand, there's a chance it is a very simple problem that only requires tighting a screw, however, i wouldnt risk a 500$ camera for a 30$ repair.
my advice will be the local repair shop, if price is too heavy for you, and camera functions fine as it is, you can live with it for a while, just keep in mind it can get worse.
Sensitive Command Dial on Selector Button.- S9800 Finepix - any ideas what's wrong?
If the command dial on your Fuji Finepix S9800 camera is overly sensitive, making it difficult to select items on the menu or adjust settings, there are a few steps you can try to address the issue:
- Clean the dial: Sometimes, dirt or debris can accumulate around the command dial, affecting its sensitivity. Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a small brush to gently clean the area around the dial, removing any particles that may be causing the sensitivity issue.
- Adjust the sensitivity settings: Check the camera's menu or settings to see if there are any options to adjust the sensitivity of the command dial. Look for settings related to "dial sensitivity" or "control dial response" and experiment with different levels to find the one that suits your preferences.
- Reset the camera settings: If the sensitivity issue persists, you can try resetting the camera settings to their default values. Look for the "Reset" or "Factory Reset" option in the camera's menu and choose the appropriate setting. This will restore the original settings and may help resolve any software-related issues.
- Contact customer support: If none of the above steps resolve the sensitivity problem with the command dial, it may be worth contacting Fuji customer support for further assistance. They can provide specific troubleshooting steps or advise you on whether the camera needs to be inspected or repaired by a professional technician.
It's important to handle the camera with care while attempting any adjustments or cleaning. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with the process, it's recommended to seek professional help or take the camera to an authorized service center to avoid any potential damage.
