There is no reset for the remote that I know of.

You really need that original remote--universal will not do it and it cannot be done manually.Good luck as Emerson can be difficult as far as getting anything.

if all you want to do is disable the vcr portion turn the set on , install a blank vhs tape it has to be blank or the vcr will try to read it .and the tv and dvd should work fine. this is a timing problem in the vcr deck its not hard to fix but it is a pain.

If the fault is only with tape play, and not with on air programmes, it is surely either with the tape or with the mechanism. Look at the tape filim for any curl at its bottom edge. If there is curling, rolling will occur becuse, contol signals are recorded at the botton edge of the tape. If top edge hage curling, sound will be effected. If there is no such mistake with tape, the pintch rollar of the VCR mechanism has worn out, and should be replaced. OK.

Sorry,no the VCR mechanical systems pully is out wax.Not worth fixing because the VCR technology it in the past or probabally have no more parts for analonge tv or produced by the tv manufacture anymore.If u vaule ur VHS tapes,just don't used the VHS tapes in this machine.

From your description it sounds like the lower channels 2-6 are not working, this indicates a tuner problem in your tv, to fix this will be expensive. But if you have a vcr you could use it as the primary channel changer eliminating any costly expense.

An HDTV antenna is a misnomer. Any antenna will be limited to receiving signals depending on the type of antenna and the direction in which it is pointed. What is the color rating (indoor/outdoor, distance and signal strength that it picks up)?

In addition, the EWC19T3 only has an analog tuner (NTSC or CATV) so what set top box do you have? The basic digital to analog converters available with the government coupon were SD converters.

Use antennaweb.org or tvfool.com to check the direction to point your antenna for the stations you want to receive. (If you share the antenna with other devices, you may need an amplifier). Antennaweb assumes an external antenna but is very conservative in the list of stations you will receive.

Use the Select button on the TV or the remote to swap from TV/VCR, DVD, and external input mode. Connect the antenna cable to your set top box and then the set top box either to the RF connector or the composite video connection on the back of the TV. If you use the RF connection, select TV mode and change channel to channel 3 or 4. Alternatively, select the external video input. Some have a pass-through that lets the local low power analog stations be read when the set top box is off.

For the TV's analog tuner programming, you need the remote (or a universal remote that matches the functions) to scan the channels if in TV mode. Press Setup and move down to Channel Set Up. Press Enter and go to Auto Preset and press Enter again. This will program the channels the tuner sees. (Please note to record, you need the feed to be on the RF connection.)

Scanning for channels may depend on the set top box. For mine, it was press Menu, go to the Channel Search, press OK and then wait. Some set top boxes have a SMART connection which added a RJ-45 connector connected to the SMART compatible antenna. In that case, you would scan for channels and then rotate the antenna and rescan. The unit would then remember where to rotate the antenna to get all the different channels.

these units are tricky firstly its not a big name brand so the code will not be a random the only way to fix this is to buy a really good remote universal such as logitech 785

You have one of two problems. Either the High Voltage cable has become disconnected from the CRT, highly unlikely if you have not been in to it lately, or the flyback has cracked and is in need of replacement. This is not a difficult job but you need to be proficient in soldering and concientious. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4916851-diagnosing_repair_tv_high_voltage which explains High Voltage problems and how to solve them. It doesn't take about your problem specifically but If it is a flyback issue this is the tip you need.

Four digit universal remote code for Emerson TV/vcr combo are:-

0456 [0458 0227] Where the code is listed as [### ###] the first is for the DVD and the second is for the VCR. Otherwise just the one code operates both the DVD and the VCR Direct Code Entry

1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.

Hello; Somewhere on your remote you have the option to choose "air" or "Cable" You need to choose cable. This should be in your owner's manual. If You don't have one, you can likely download it for free. Hope this helps! John

First ,try the light in the current TV outlet to verify the outlet is fine.Leave your TV unplugged for about 5 minutes,then plug it in and try it.Along with the newer digital technology is a problem which occurs to digital components.It 'locks' up.You have to reset the components by unplugging them,some for 30 seconds,some for up to 5 minutes,such as modems,DVR's,basically anything programmable with an LCD screen.Also,video game consoles.Try that for now and see if it works.If it doesn't just comment back here and I will get an autolink to your post and we'll try a couple of other things.Good luck,Greg
