Neighbor is turning off my tv
Locate on the front of your set the remote receiver- its a tiny round lens that if covered with a piece of black tape will prevent any remote from working---Unless the person has a Emerson remote he would not be able to do this--if you cover the lens your remote will not seem to work but you will not have them turning your set off etc.
I need a code to use for a unverisal remote
Check these codes:0227 0233 0254 0264
0265 0266 0310 0325 [0039 0252]
[0147 0250] [0147 0257]
Where the code is listed as [### ###] the first is for the TV and the second is for the VCR. Otherwise just the one code operates both the TV and the VCR.
Blue tv screen
HelloA blue screen only with no indications of video means, there is no video signal. That is no signal condition. Check the tV connected with an external antenna. Select to tuner, and see whether it receives any on air transmission. If it recevies, and you can see the picture, and the fault is with VCR only,m means that the VCR section has trouble. If there is no picture either with VCR or external antenna, the fault is with the switching IC iside the circuit board. To locate this IC and to repalce it is actually a skilled work indeed. If you have sound knoledge in electronics, you can do it by yourself. If you have, inform me. I'll send the schematic diagram [service manual] to your TV. I can't send it to you by this site, as this window does not allow me to upload PDF fies by it. If you want to get the service manual, send your Email ID to me by Fixya. I'll send a copy of it to you by return mail. OK.
I have an Emerson DVD
The loss of picture in playback mode is due to a dirty video head or heads. You might be able to solve this problem with a simple head cleaning tape. if not, the video heads will need cleaning manually.
This should me performed by a TV technician as there are some dangerous voltages inside.
if you choose to do the repair yourself, you need to disassemble the unit to reveal the VHS player itself. Inside there is a round shiny video head. This part is at a slight angle and should be. Dont try to adjust it. Take a piece of paper, saturate it with alchahol or acetone and place the paper flat against the side of the video heads. Spin the heads in counterclockwise direction only paying close attention to the small slots near the seam of the two heads, upper and lower cylinder. Carefully wipe clean with cotton swab and let dry a while before using the unit.
Remote quit, universal remotes don't work. Where
Right beside the tv manual power button.U tries all the codes that was provided for ur tv model, than those codes does not work on ur tv.Some times all the tv codes belong to ur tv just don't work could be any reasons.Try website like Remotes.com to buy ur tv original remote, than don't care anymore about programing codes.
I hear audio but the screen is black.
Hi,
If everything else works - there is sound and high voltage (static on the screen) - but there is no picture (including no on-screen menus), this limits the likely area of problems is the video output circuitry or CRT filament connections. Check to see if the CRT filaments are glowing. If they are not glowing, check for bad soldering on the CRT neck board and around the flyback transformer.
Where the picture is erratic - coming and going entirely or changing brightness suddenly, with power off, remove the picture tube socket (carefully!) and clean the pins with fine sandpaper and use contact cleaner on the socket. This source of bad connections can result in a variety of erratic symptoms. Check for bad solder connections on the CRT neck board.
Hope this will help...

Tape keeps ejecting
This is a common problem usually caused by slipping belts. Becaue of its location, the VCR section is subject to heat and the belts dry up and get slippery. Repalcing the loading belt should resolve this. Since the unit will be dis-assembled for this repalcemetn, I would suggerst that the capstan belt be replaced at the same time. This is the one that drives the heads as well as the FF/REW spindles. The belts should be about $2-$4 each.

I got a used tv with no remote, How do I know if
Every television for the past 20 years has remote capability, with no exceptions. Purchase a universal remote, then there will be a piece of paper with the remote telling you how to program it for your brand of television.
My EWC1394 records programs, but when I rewind th
this is caused by the tape winding too tightly so when it rewinds it gets tension and thinks it is at the end of tape ,so stops.
It pays to FF and REW several times on new or other peoples tapes to have the tape acclimatised to the tension on your machine. It may also need to be serviced if it is doing it to tapes you have previously FF to the end and rewound. Older tapes stretch a little more than new tapes so are more forgiving.

Turns off 10 second after i turn it on
Check in the Menu for a sleep timer or some type of timer that is shutting it off automatically. It should be in the TV's menu under the power settings or something similar.
If that's not it, or that doesn't work for you, leave the Television unplugged for a while (long enough for all of the settings to reset) and then plug it back in and see if the problem persists. If so, you may have to get the TV serviced.
I hope this helps :)
Best Regards,
James
Trying to help this older
The TV should be on channel 2, 3, or 4 to work correctly. There might be a small switch on the back of the VCR that lets you select the channel that it wil play back on.
Also, look on the remote control for the VCR and see if there is a button labeled TV/Video, and press that while something is playing. This switches back and forth between the TV signal and the VCR signal and it could solve your problem.
Vhs tape
there might be a paper stuck in side from the tape or somting loose
Channels blocked
Hello to all, go to your TV menu and go to V-chip set up, then go thru and see that you don't have any channels blocked. If you do and you are watching a show with that rating, you will receive the "protected program message".
Have a great day!
