Light meter not working on olympus 35rc can it be

Three places to look for are:
1)Battery terminals and the wire from the battery terminal. Check for battery corrosion. 2) CdS meter cells is bad 3) Galvanometer is bad.
The camera can be repaired but you will need a donor parts camera.

Olympus OM-4 stuck shutter

This is very common on many OM SLRs and is caused by dirty shutter magnets. If you look on the web you can find details on how to do this yourself, but as the OM-4 is top of the line I'd highly recommend getting it done professionally as part of a CLA (clean lubricate adjust) service. Last time I had it done in the UK it cost about £80 and when I had it done to my OM-2SP in the USA last year it cost just under $100.

Om4 light seals

If you can get a specific OM-4 light seal kit then you've done well as they're made of solid unobtanium with prices to match.

The job is not difficult on a DIY basis, just buy a suitable kit of cut to fit material and adhesive. Not difficult, but it can be fiddly...

I've been using kits from an eBay supplier in Japan for a while as his kits contain the correct type of foam, but I've now found one based in the UK who uses the same material with a better adhesive.

The first address is for a current listing. The second one is for the specific seller. You may find another trader who suits you better.

If you lack confidence to do this yourself, then get a pro to do so, but ask for a diagnostic check of shutter speeds first as OM-4's are notorious for circuit board failures. If it's jiggered then the light seal replacement is a waste of time and you should sell the camera for spares or to sit in a collector's display case and buy another.

The OM-1MD is the same camera as the OM-1 with the added provision for taking a motor drive to advance the film automatically.

The OM-1n is the same as the OM-1MD with a redesigned film advance lever, a flash ready/sufficient flash LED in the viewfinder, and automatic X-sync regardless of the position of the FP/X switch, when it is used with a T-series flash unit mounted on Flash Shoe 4.

We cant find film for it,serial # 5080332 .it is a

Its going to be difficult to identify by just serial number - as already noted - they are not unique numbers between all the models that Olympus have ever made. Be aware that olympus have also made other formats over the years, including APS (like 35mm, but smaller) - which is usually recogniseable by a small "circle and triangular logo" on the front of the camera.

Best bet would be to take it into your local photo store. They will probably know what it is. They will almost certainly have film (and batteries) for it. APS and 35mm are still available in shops, although not as widely as used to be, and numbers are diminishing.

You could also try eBay:
http://photography.shop.ebay.com/Film-/4201/i.html?_nkw=35mm&_catref=1&_fln=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m282

Buying film is only have the battle (or fun!!). Two other things to consider are "total cost of picture - from film to paper" and where to get your pictures processed.

If you had plans to put more than five films through it (say 180 shots), I'd recommend seriously considering a move to digital.

Feel free to add further questions.

Hope this is helpful

I have a olympus fe-220.

The shutter is a very important part to a camera's picture taking ability. They block the light and let it in to create a photo. 1) Adjust your camera settings to the correct light setting. By adjusting settings on the camera, the shutter will let in less light when it opens. This make the camera take longer to collect light for the film, which is useful in different situations. 2) Press the shutter button open the shutter. The shutter is made of several pieces of plastic or metal that shut out light and let in light just like a window shutter. 3) Steady the camera as the camera uses the shutter to take the picture. The shutter does this by letting light into the inside of the camera and then the light hits a mirror on the inside of the camera. The light bounces off of the mirror and hits the film, creating a picture. 4) Listen for a swishing and clicking noise. This sound means that the shutter has done its job and is closed again. 5) Take your finger off of the shutter button. ----------- actually its the mirror which moves and makes the shutter noisy. -------- This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

Is the Olympus X560WP Underwater Digital Camera a good camera?

I'm an Olympus dealer in Ontario, and I've never heard of the X560wp either. It may be an exclusive to the Shopping Network. The Olympus Tough series ( http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_digital_sw.asp ) is a really good camera. Durable, good image quality. Downside is their use of the limited availability of the xD memory cards. Unless the price is really good, and you are comfortable buying from TV, I would look at their more mainstream Tough series, Fuji's Z33WP, or Pentax's W80. Here's a link to a waterproof camera shootout test. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q209waterproofgroup/
