OK, going to have to guess a little on my side. Is the computer a laptop? If so are all the lights on the laptop on when it's started? If it is a laptop - could be a back light - light that illuminates the screen, so it can be seen. IF this computer is a desktop, well - check all your connections to make sure they are well connected and same thing, do you see the power on lights. If so, you can start to figure it has something to do with your display or video card (on-board or dedicated video). If your PC doesn't have a built in Card-Reader you will need to buy one (you can get them at Pound shops & they only cost 1 pound). Then it's simply a matter of plugging the card-reader into a USB port, pop your SD Card into the relevant slot in the card-reader, wait for the necessary drivers to be installed & your SD Card will show up in 'My Computer' as a removable drive.
