Driver for olympus c-2100
Do you really need a driver?
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa (
http://picasa.google.com ).
Loaded Camedia on Vista machine,
Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

I CAN NOT TRANSFER PICTURES
You can always use a separate card reader instead of the camera for downloading pics. Then, you don't need any special software.
Off/on button popped off
Based on what you report the camera would need to be serviced. Regretfully all parts, accessories and repair service have been discontinued due to the age of the camera.
You may refer to the yellow pages for local camera repair centers who maybe able to offer parts and service on the camera.
As a loyal Olympus customer, our Customer Service Department is also available to discuss other options available to you.
They can be reached Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM until 7:00PM East Coast time, at: 1(800)622-6372 option 2 and then option 3.
Software/drivers
No driver is neccessary. When you plug the camera into the USB port, Ubuntu should automatically mount the camera. If not, Open a command prompt and type the following command and post the output here:
dmesg | tail
You say you're running Ubuntu/Kubuntu. Which on are you using? Kubuntu uses the KDE desktop rather than GNOME, the default for Ubuntu. The user interface is different.
If the camera is mounted as it should be, it would be mounted under /media (Usually /media/disk), and that directory would contain all your pictures.
Backwards Image on LCD
The manual for this camera is very well documented. I can see where poor lighting can cause out of focus and the aperture not set right and the camera moving during the shot but not the image being backwards if I understand you correctly. Sounds like she simply shot into a mirror.
Did the camera get dropped by accident? That could knock an "internal connector" slightly off causing the electrical signals to cross. The connectors in these cameras have extremely small traces and it doesn't take too much to misalign a trace with the connector. I'd explore that possibility first.
Then call Olympus on this one you might need to service the camera.
PS: I use to test my tech's trouble shooting ability by reversing connectors to get the same effect.
Heat and Digital Cameras
Under the seat is the coolest place. If you need to keep it cooler than that, you could put it in an ice chest with one of those re-useable ice blocks. But that is going to the extreme I think. Of course if you want a good night shot with a long shutter, this might not be a bad way to go.
