Why did you get a 'new' computer with an unsupported OS ?

When you say does not hold charge, do you mean during periods of continuous usage, or when left unused for long periods ?

From a cursory scan of references on Google, it appears to be a microscope - surely you could have discovered this for yourself ?

Looking at the reviews of this item, it is only watertight to a depth of three metres - if you took it deeper than that, then I'm afraid its down to you. Also, it is approximately eight years old, so general wear and tear during this period of extended use may have cause some of the seals to lose their efficacy, thus allowing the ingress of water. Since this was salt water, it is hardly surprising that the media card is unusable.

This can be caused by a failing battery pack.

Remove the battery from the camera for 15mins, replace the battery then go to the camera's Menu and scroll through the settings to Gate & Time then set the correct Date & time.
