Before trying the new battery, try cleaning the battery compartment contacts with a cotton swab dampened, not drenched, in rubbing alcohol. Blow dry the compartment and then try the new battery. Thanks, Dana

Need more information. Does the camera work at all? Even with the lens retracted, does it take pictures?

if your camera is running on low memory either your sd memory is full keep it delete some daata

It is a problem that has happened to 2 out of 2 of my Stylus 410's. Olympus will not reapir them unless they are under warrenty (or for $175). I filed with the BBB...we'll see if that helps. They really need to recall them. Good luck. =)

well u can´t do much, it needs to have the board to be replaced. normally the repair centre just repair it, and if it is under warranty they will do it for free, probably the store was the one saying that u drop it to get some money.

It is something that seems to be a problem with the Stylus 410s. Olympus will not repair them unless they are under warrenty, I've tried. My best advice, and what I am in the midst of myself (I have 2 of these with the same problem) is to file with the BBB. Perhaps if enough complaints come through, they will begin to fix the stylus 410 defect as they should. Good luck. =)

I don't know the solution but I did the same thing. I knopw it doesn't help, but!

The first question I have to ask is have you replaced the batteries lately and are they digital camera batteries?

some card do have a physical lock onto itself to protect files.

please check your card and look for a small switch, its usually at the side. click it up or down and try re inserting it to your cam. if this still isnt any help, it must be a setting on your cam.

This has happened with 2 of our Stylus 410s. It has to do with the flash not working. If you turn off the flash, the picture will take. I am trying to figure out how to fix the flash portion myself...=)

It sounds like the sensor that tells the camera weather the cover is open or closed has failed or come loose. This is a fairly common issue on cameras with the sliding lens covers. Our shop would charge around $50 in labor to fix this issue if it is that sensor. If a part was required it would be somewhere between $20 and $50 depending on what Olympus charges for the part. try to clean the pad using water damped cotton if you are techie, professional fix is needed if you're not.

Could be battery or charger. 1. Buy new battery. Still in trouble? 2. Get new charger Its good to have two batteries

well probably u damaged the mainboard, it will need to be repalced
