Philips CDR778 2-Disc CD Recorder Questions & Answers
Phillip CDR778
You can try other brands of audio cdr but it sounds like your laser is on it's way out. Some find cdrw's still work after cdr's have stopped being recognised.
I have a CD-player that
It should still be possible to play the CD in spite of the Disc not finalised message.
However, I am not clear where you have recorded the CD. When you say origninal CD, is this the one you bought from the music shop.
Finalise CD applies to only to recordable CDs (CDR or CDRW). If you do not have a manual you can dowload one from
this site. Refer page 24.
My Phillips CRD778 always tells
Did you read the manual? The words DIGITAL AUDIO must be printed on the blank medium or it will not record to it. Find some. Try eBay.
CDR-778 We have used this recorder in our Church
Hello,
I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs. Since you have been using it for the past two years, the laser must have been weak.
To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.
Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.
If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.
To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.
Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.
Good luck.
My philips cd recorder is not recording
the recorder philips cdr-778 put my 80 min sony cd-r audio in it start recording 20 second on track 1 go to track 2 for 20 second then stops goes to update some times it reads no disc when installing the disc we have been recording at the Church for the past 2 years

Every time I put blank
its prbly indicating that the burn laser is no longer functioning especially if the burner has had alot of use prbly still poss to buy parts however could be costly
Does the unit recognize 80 minute discs?
Any desk CD recorder will only recognize discs labeled "Audio Disc".
That means you cannot use CD-R or CD-RW discs, that are basically data discs. No matter duration, if your 80 minute disc is CD-R or CD-RW, your unit will not recognize it. Good Luck.

There is no capacity qualifier mentioned.
