Straighten one end of a Norwegian paper-clip.
Put that end into the small hole in the face of the DVD player.
Push it in, until you feel resistance.
Then, push another 5 mm, to "unlock" the tray.
Then, gently pull the drawer the rest of the way open.

I put on the DVD
Hi! If you are not technically proficient, I would recommend using a
quality DVD lens cleaner, readily available from many retail stores. In
essence, they are just a DVD disc with tiny brushes attached to the
playing side, that gently remove surface debris from the lens. If you
are brave, you can also take off the cover of the unit (make sure it is
not plugged in to the power outlet...duh...!!!), and the exposed lens
may be very carefully (...did I say VERY CAREFULLY strongly
enough...?!?) cleaned with a cotton swab and alcohol. If you are not
able to correct the tracking issues with either or both of these
techniques, I would consider buying a new unit. Unfortunately, the
repair cost for realigning the lens and/or circuit replacements are
generally more than you would want to spend on an older player (unless
it is a very expensive unit). Hope some of this helps.

My DVD player is locked, the display shows a red
Hi, This sounds like a parental lock issue. Try going into the set up menu and press the down key choosing custom by pressing enter (this is in the user manual page 20 - 22) then go down and select parental. If you know your parental control password code then enter it, if not the reset code is 4737 you will then need to create a new 4 digit code,There are 9 levels to choose from 1 - 8 and all, all being the selection that removes the parental lock. Hope this helps. James

Hook up to TV
Get an A/V cord (should be supplied) and match the color of the wires to the color of the jacks on the back of the unit. Plug a set of wires to the OUTPUT section on the back of the combo and the INPUT section on the back of your TV. Then set your TV to Video 1, 2, 3, etc. and you should be set to go. Good luck to you!
For a better explanation consult the combo setup manual.

Sanyo dvd/vcr combo
Your universal remote would have seperate selection buttons for VCR and DVD. If you don't have a VCR button, use AUX. Try programming each function seperately - DVD code for your manufactirer on the DVD button and VCR code for your manufacturer on the VCR button.
