Hi, if you still have the problem of unable to copy from video to dvd,then just follow these instructions, on the Remote, (when you have both the video tape that you wish to copy in the machine and the blank disc also in the machine ) Press the DUBBING Button(This is 2 buttons along from the Record button),almost immediately a message will pop up asking if you wish to copy VCR to DVD.

If you bought this recorder/player in the United States, then it comes in the box only able to play region 1 dvds. Im not sure of your question, but if you are having trouble playing other region discs, well that is why. Very few devices sold in the United States will play other regions. I went to Sharps website and their info there said nothing about this unit being able to play any other regions than region 1.

If you google the model, some people talk of a code to enter to make it play other regions but I could not find any info pertaining to whether this is true or not!

Yes, you can do this if you have a VCR that has a channel on the VHS part of the unit that shows your DVD screen (see instruction manual for better explanation). The Sharp unit that you have might have this feature, if not then look at your instruction manual for how to hook up the VCR part of your unit to an external DVD player. Good luck to you!

All discs will not play with this set. It is not a fault. It is a common trouble to this model.

press Setup.
choose system setup
choose disc setup
choose finalise and enter.

put a dvd-r or dvd-rw in the device, switch to vdeo mode put in the video and play it, as soon as you want to record press the dubbing button on the remote

Yes, it can. The only difference between a Netflix DVD and one you go buy at the store, is that the Netflix DVD doesn't belong to you.

The fix doesn't work once you have updated the firmware.
If you did the update, you can still go back to the firmware of Aug 2009
(http://www.lge.com/us/support/product/support-product-profile.jsp?customerModelCode=BD390&initialTab=documents&targetPage=support-product-profile).
Once you have installed the past firmware, you can install the hack. Choose region 0 and save.
Then you can update again the firmware to the last release and the multiregion will still work.

Ok, many DVD players will NOT respond to the "Codes" And some copy protection isn't dependent, on region. You also should see if there is indeed an update for your "Firmware" as often this has a bearing on things. You simply cannot do it, .You see, the LG tech, is indeed correct. The ONLY way is to put the information into the Firmware on-board, and thats beyond most people, and it still may not be possible, there may be just, no way to do it. I would suggest selling this one and using the recovered money, and then getting one that is region free or easily converted.

Just out of curiousity, which code did you use for the hack? Many people have asked me and I haven't seen it yet. And yes, the update will mess with the hack, so you may want to rehack after the update.

Ha.... Found the soultion.

The fix is the same as fr LG 5931.
I.e. download a small file and burnit with e.g. ultraiso on a DVD-R.
Boot yr LG BD370 or 390 with the DVD in the reader - it will flicker some numbers on the Display and then say Region 0.

I use a Phillips myself as it is not only cheaper but has much more going for it than many of the higher end units. i throw anything at it and it just plays

The older the unit that harder it is to do the region free thing with.
I let my EX have the panasonic (big grin)

If you cant find a fix then look at the codes available for cheaper brands and how easy it is to do it before you purchase one.

The recorder will specify a DVDR- and or a DVDR+ at a certain write speed ie 10X 20X etc.

Turn on the player and open the tray. Press 0000 on the remote to access the DVD region code selector.

Change the EEPRom code to 0 to remove the region lock.

Just open the DVD drawer and press 0000 and selct region 0 as your new region and it will play all regions- I hope that helps.

try cleaning the player. with a dvd clean disk..for about $5.00 to $7.00.... and wipe down the player.
sometimes dust and trash gets in the way and will not close properly and you end up closing an closing until the trash get out of the way... cleaning it will help..
