My system cuts in and
Check to make sure the speaker wires and plugs are secure on the back, if that fails! chances are there are bad solder connections on the circuit board probably around the audio output ic in the unit.
Hit by lightning did a fuse blow out?
Of course. In case that a lightning exists the mains power does ups and downs that can cause decrease and increase of the current through a fuse. The lest painfull (for the device) is to blow out the fuse. The worst.... I hope you will never see it.

It won't turn off
Power on/off button may be broken, may need to get serviced by Sharp..
