These sets have a problem with the backlight circuitry which causes the set to operate properly( tune channels, sound ok, etc..) but there is no picture..this is likely caused by the filter capacitors in the inverter power supply circuit which , over time, tend to either leak or lose thier esr value. The repair usually consists of replacing a few electrolytic capacitors and possibly a resistor or fuse. If you can find someone who repairs these near you, you may want to get an estimate...theoretically, the components are not very expensive for this repair., and takes little time..so look out for scammers

Tv turn on now.Dispaly go out about 8 mins,but does it still have audio?Yes,than the tv 1 or 2 long board call the LCD inverter boards are dead.These 1 or 2 long inverter boards help the tv to have backlight to produce a picture.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy those 1 or 2 long refurbishes inverter boards for the replacement.

I found vibration also made mine go out... Found square cap beside transformer had solder connection on one leg cracked loose and 2 other through board connections cracking... Reflowed solder on all through connections on primary side of Power supply fixed problem.

Hello, this symptom is normally caused by several things. The most common one is the T-Con board. This can be caused by over heating in the unit which will cause the T-Con board to go bad. It may have cold solder joints, loose connections, etc. You need to take voltage readings before and after the problem occurs.

There is no reset button, to reset it, unplug it for about an hour to let it reset itself.

You may have power supply module problem or short circuits in the inverter board, those are the two areas you need to check.
Right now the 5vdc standby is working but nothing else.

T-CON board, check the connections between the T-CON and the Main LOGIC board first (very rarely to be the logic board but not 100% for sure). Not likely to be the lamps but either the power supply or inverter board, you will need to do some voltages checking.

Do this:

Take a flash light point it directly at the screen now if you see something then you got a back light that is out.

Let me know ether way here, If you do not see anything then there might be something else wroung.

Yeah. It sounds like the television transformer is damaged. This can happen due to irregularities in voltage supply, lightnings etc. Try having your transformer replaced. It is very cheap and you should be careful to get the best thing available there as this thing can fall faulty at any time if it lacks quality.

If it is Westinghouse LTV-27W2 tv then check/ replace T-Con board that can be cause of this kind of problem.
T-Con board is located at top center if you see tv from rear, its usually covered with metal shield and very much care is required to handle this board.
Local tech will help you if you feel uncomfortable working in tv.
