Try checking your files with this method.

Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.

If you want to remove your files do the following:
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
Be careful and do not delete files needed to operate your MP3 player.

unfortunately those Ipods are outdated. There is no use in getting it serviced because they charge atleast $50, it would be best if you got another one.

See try to restart your pc and then connect it to real player and put the songs via real player it's very easy and will work for you

There should be a switch on the top or bottom of the apple ipod.On one side of the groove, it should be orange. Slide the small switch to the orange side and then use can use your ipod freely again.

Try reseting it. Hold down the "Menu" button and the middle button for about 7-8 seconds. The apple logo should appear, then just wait about 5-6 seconds for your ipod to start up again.

Your best bet would be to do a soft reset of the ipod:

1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

Using iTunes on your computer you can either Select all the songs within the iPod and delete them or a more simple way or erasing the iPod is to restore in iTunes. Okay so your screen is white, and everything else works perfectly.

the issue is either loose flex cable between the display and the board or a faulty display.

the display is cheap to replace, hopefully the issue is just with the display.

First of all, is the ipod on warranty? have you checked with apple will they repair it or do you want to repair it yourself?

if your outside of warranty you can buy the screen or get it repaired by the guys of this company

try this first http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ click on download now (this should be the latest version of itunes). once downloaded on pc / laptop it will ask you if you wish to have your media (audio/video/pictures) converted to itunes say yes it will search for or you can have you want put on itunes..........once this is done connect your ipod to pc/laptop (on left side a window pane is open you should see on top the files on pc , bottom is your ipod) you can sync your music or manually click and drag file to file. i recommend manually...one note when connected always always eject the ipod from pc...never never just pull plug out..................happy listening

the diagnostic mode won't check the audio, only the headphone jack.
I suspect that the sound on your ipods motherboard went out. It happens!
Have you been using the ipod on a dock, a speaker dock, any dock?
If so the dock may have damaged the motherboard and too the sound out.
Or the sound on the board just went out. You can fix the boards without special equipment and
skill. If that has occurred, which if you replaced the headphone jack with a new one, has occurred
you are looking at replacing the motherboard in your ipod.
You can find a new motherboard on ebay for about 40.00 or so.
