My player suddenly stopped working, the LED on it blinks green-yellow, like there were no music files on it, when I push the play button. The computer(PC) recognizes it, but iTunes doesn't. I can't even use it as a removable device, Explorer can't open the drive. Apple Updater fails to update or restore the device. I heard that lot of people have this problem. Does anyone know a solution? My warranty is over...
Hi
Ur Ipod shuffles needs to be reset to factory setting, you will find the utility for Mac and windows machine at:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1293?viewlocale=en_US
http://www.techspot.com/downloads/3726-ipod-shuffle-reset-utility.html
1. Reset the ipod using the utility
2. Run itunes application to create profile : after you have reset the Ipod just start itunes and it will ask you to provide a profile name, just provide any name and select okay.
I had the same issue, got it sorted using the windows utility.
Should work for u as well.
Thanks
Krishnendu

my ipod shuffle usb is not being read by the computer, and on my other ipod shuffle the usb came off when i removed the lid. Now its not being read by the computer and cant be charged. please email me a solution. thankyou
Never discount the possibility of a simple poor electrical connection (or a busted usb plug on the shuffle - you didnt yank at it, did you?)
Try to swab out the inside of the usb plug on the shuffle.. 99% rubbing alchohol is best. A qtip might fit, if squashed a bit

there two different versions of firmware for the assembly player (one can work with bugs)
Methodology firmware:
1. Disable USB cable, turn off player.
2. Holding down "M" connect the USB cable.
3. The menu select 3 - y para (other then USB disk), clicking the right analog stick.
4. The system will appear logical disk 2. First at 16 mb, second - remaining FLASH memory.
5. Copy invested in this archive 5 files on 16 - MB removable disk (all except reame.txt).
6. Turn off the player through the safe extraction devices.

When I plug the iPod into the computer the light immediately turns green as if it is already charged yet when I unplug the iPod it still has no power. I have tried restoring it but this has not helped. I also bought a power unit to charge it from an outlet and again, as soon as I plug it in the charging light turns green indicating it is already charged. I left it connected for over an hour and again the iPod had no power when I disconnected it. This is the first time I have tried to charge this iPod since I purchased it. (I used it initially with the charge that was already on the iPod).
If iPod shuffle won’t turn on or respond
â If the status light blinks orange when you press a button, the iPod shuffle buttons are
disabled. Press and hold Play/Pause (’) for about three seconds, until the status light
blinks green.
â Connect iPod shuffle to a high-power USB port on your computer. Your iPod shuffle
battery may need to be recharged.
â Turn iPod shuffle off, wait five seconds, and then turn it on again.
â You may need to restore iPod shuffle software. See “Updating and Restoring
iPod shuffle Software” on page 26.

"IPOD" COULD NOT BE RESTORED.AN UNKNOWN ERROR OCCURED

GIVE ME SOLUTION
I found a way to solve this, you have to google for a program called ipod reset utility or, you can search here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1238
Either way, install, follow the instrucions and you can probably save your ipod (note; I saved my ipod on a mac. Haven't tested transfering songs from my PC an this moment)

plugged it into the usb port and all i get is a blinking orange light. i do not have itunes program on the computer; all i want to do is listen to what is already on the shuffle. if i "safely remove hardware" since the blinking orange light means the shuffle is in disk mode, then no light at all comes on.
you need itunes to listen to the music on your ipod throughyour computer

how do i download songs to my iPod model no.A1204 EMC no. 2125? and how to charge it?
As with all iPods, you must use Apple's iTunes application to sync your music with your iPod Shuffle.
You'll need to install the latest iTunes by downloading it from Apple click here> and then installing it. You install iTunes like any other downloaded program by double-clicking on the resulting icon after iTunes has successfully downloaded.
Follow the on-screen directions to install iTunes.
Once iTunes is installed, start up iTunes and have it search your computer for music for it to manage for you. While that is going on, plug the white USB cable that came with your iPod into your iPod Shuffle and into one of the USB ports on your computer. This will trigger iTunes to recognize your iPod Shuffle and ask you whether you want to set it up with this computer.
Follow the on-screen prompts to sync your iPod Shuffle with your computer.
To charge your iPod Shuffle, just keep it plugged in to your computer using the supplied white USB cable. Keep the cable connected until the battery indicator on the ipod Shuffle shows that the battery is full.
Thanks for using FixYa and Happy New Year!

After charging your portable media player overnight, you turn it on only to find that it is reporting a low battery. Seconds later, it shuts off automatically. What might be wrong
Ifthe MP3 player battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall. ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. Ifthe battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to bereplaced.
