My dvdwriter read cd not

It sounds like a lens problem, correct. If it is reading CD's , but making noise and not reading DVD's, sounds like you need a new drive.

AC adapter, Model PA-1121-08 for Toshiba

The correct (political) answer is that your should ALWAYS replace power cords.

Today's computers power supplies have two parts, the wall plug, 3 prong, and the transformer with the "PORT" plug for the laptop.

The 1st part, you can buy new or a qualified technician can splice out the bad part.
The second part, is usually a DC (direct Current) cable with special grounds and insulation. The molding that houses the electrical wires is not accessible to consumers for that very reason. If you have to bend the cable to make the connection, then the plug is clearly defective and SHOULD be replace. In a pinch, depending on how far the break is on the plug, it might too be spliced.

Replace it as soon as possible.

I have a model PS-5301-08HA power supply in my HP

There are two types of video cards, Ones which power themselves for the Slot and other high end ones need to be powered from the supply. Most video cards are provided with a cable like this one.7c6778b.jpg You will need this cable in order to properly connect your video card to the power supply.

Hope this solves your problem.

Windows Movie Maker

In my opinion you got a lite version of windows movie maker and made a movie of a duration more than 5 minutes and now you wan't to burn it on a cd or dvd. Windows won't allow you to do the same because thats a licensed software and to write a movie of more than 5-10 minutes you are required to purchase a copy of windows movie maker. In order to purchase a copy you can contact your software vendor or if you desire to purchase it online (It's always cheap online). You can google it. If your problem is different then kindly let me know alongwith the complete problem. As one liners attract assumptions.

Need to replace a Lite-on power supply

Yes, I see what you mean since your computer is an SFF, (Small Form Factor), and uses an SFF power supply. Hard to get a power supply replacement, much less the power switch for the power supply.

Some things to note about working on a personal computer power supply,

1.They use Electrolytic Capacitors inside them. The aluminum case, cylindrical looking objects. These 'Caps' are designed to slowly build up a charge, then release it all at once. They can hold a charge after being disconnected from power, for weeks, sometimes Months!
There are typically two large ones used in the Input Stage. These hold a LARGE charge! Touching the terminals on the bottom of a capacitor, or touching a circuit that they are in, can result in a bad shock, or even Fatal one!

2.The particular power supply you have, has a Soft Power On function built in. There is no switch cable from the front panel of the computer, to the power supply. The power supply can be plugged into power constantly, and needs no On/Off switch on the back. This switch could be removed, and the wires to it soldered together, with heat shrink tubing over the connection.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_power_supply
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switched-mode_power_supply

You DON'T need an On/Off switch on the power supply.

I have given you a solution in the form of information, but am NOT recommending you open your power supply, Nor work on it.

I have a lite on DVD drive and the drive is dead.

If it is for a xbox360 than you need software (I use Jungleflasher) and you willl also need a connectivity kit modguru v1 with probe for lite on key (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320427636777&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT). to extract the Key from the old drive. I am not sure if you can extract the key if the rom is broke. GOOD LUCK.
On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 8. O you will also need a Sata card to hook it to your computer. You are looking at 29.95 for sata card, 31.00 for the Probe, 40 to 60 for the new drive the software is free if you can find it on the web. Good LUCK. Or you can send it all to me and I can fix it for 100.00 plus the cost of the new DVD Rom.

Dvd burner not reconizing dvd's

Read your manual. It sounds as if you might have purchased the wrong type of dvd's. For example, if your dvd player states it uses dvd - r, then you can not use dvd + r dvd's. and visa versa. You have to find out what dvd's specifically your unit takes/utilizes. I think there is about 5 different types of dvd's coding (dvd-r, dvd+r, dvd-rw, dvd+rw) find out which yours takes and you should be ok. Good Luck and hope this helps you!
