Furnace does not work when windy outside.

Furnace does not work when windy outside. Has an electric ignite, it either won't kick on at all, or it just blows cold air. The slightest breeze will cause it to not work. When there is no wind it works great. Right now I can see flame, and it is running but only cold air is coming out. What could be wrong?

Hi,
The problem is withthe venting. Your vent pipe goes out of the house in such a way as to catch the air when it is windy and cause the pressure switch to cut out. The flame may only run for a short time, then shut down and then restart. The heat exchanger never gets hot enough to give you warm air.

Check where the vent pipes exit the house. Try adding on an elbow and turning it so that the wind cannot blow back the pipe. Turning it down towards the ground often is good. Make sure that the exhaust cannot recirculate back to the intake pipe also.
Also check that there is no water build up hanging in a pool where the vent pipe may have sagged a bit. this will make the pressure switch much more sensitive.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Coleman furnace -- fan runs, ingniter won't light,

Newish Coleman furnace mfg home -- fan runs but shuts off since ingniter won't light, 4 flashes means limit switch problem, 4 inches of snow on roof, gas supply good. Furnace worked two days ago but we had 15 hour power outage due to winter storm, now no ignition.

Hi,
The chances are that the furnace was running when the power went out. This will cause the high limit switch to cutout and needs to be manually reset.
You will find that switch in the blower compartment near the blower. Usually somewher near the highest point of the cabinet.
Push the little red button firmly till it clicks.
When the power goes out while the furnace is running the heat builds up because the blower shuts down immediately and causes this limit switch to cut out.
If you have a electric tester you can also follow the low voltage circuit till you find the open switch. Ther is usually a wiring schematic on the door cover of most furnaces.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

The fan will run if you turn it to 'on' position instead of 'auto' on the thermostat.

sounds like it is the pressure switch try jumping it out on some models you fool the heater in too working or see if the tubes are blocked , there should be some codes on the front panel or the fan panel

Rollout Limit Switch Keeps Tripping

I just had a guy out yesterday who replaced the Rollout Limit Switch on our Coleman/Evcon home furnace.  This morning, the furnace kicks on but only runs for about five minutes before you can hear the click of the switch tripping and then the gas flame shuts down.  I can manually reset the switch by pushing on the top of it, but that only repeats the procedure.  Thoughts?

I have had the same problem with mine for the last 2 years. Remove the motor on the side of the furnace(usually held on by 3 screws) and turn the fan blades inside by hand. after sitting all summer it seems to get stuck. If it moves freely, replace the motor and try to start it again. This fixed mine the last 2 years! Hope this helped.

furnace blower not working how it should

the furnace itself is working properly it just when it reaches the right temp in the house the blower will not shut down it keeps running til it starts blowing cold air again i have to manually shut the switch off and turn it back on and everything repeats itself again...this is a model AGU10016A COLEMAN EVCON FURNACE WITH A LUX DMH110 NON PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT

first off buy yourself a honeywell stat, in my personal opinion lux stats are garbage, I have run into so many that are bad stats !!! but as far as your fan not shuting down, sounds to me like your fan center on your circuit board is bad and will not shut down the fan when needed, you will have to replace the circuit board, as the fan center is a part of the whole of the circuit board, hope that helps

Defective combustion air switch. The 3 blinks are an error code. You didn't say, but I'm guessing you have a Coleman Evcon. They had alot of defective Combustion air switches. Your specialists were not that.
