This means your unit does not see the battery and is running on AC power only. You need to check and make sure that your battery polarity is correct making sure that positive goes to positive, and negative to negative. If you can attach some photos, that might help also.

What is the problem with complete description?

I'm having the same problem....is anyone out there that can help? Creative has been zero help.

there is no Creative repair svc in US either

my advice, i would rstart it and install it before you plug it back in.

Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard

Hi there

I would suggest that you have a look at the file format, i.e .mp3 .wma and then make sure that you mp3 player supports that file format because if the mp3 player only supports mp3's then it will not play .wma. Please remember to give me a good rating.

If it didn't work out follow these steps:

3. Turn on the Nomad an connect it to the PC.
4. Install MediaSource(the program requires that you have the nomad connected while installing)
5. Install MediaSource plugin
6. Try transferring files.

Whirring noise = bad, probably needs to be replaced, BUT:

All i had to do was go into recovery mode and use the clean up function and then reboot. After that all problems were solved. H

the zen uses other areas for data storage and stuff.
best to reformat and not use so many folders.

The hard drive here is shot. You will need to buy a replacement hard drive.

Try cleaning the USB Plug, or maybe you should clean or replace the USB in the laptop.

After three months of trying and trying in many computers, following many, many procedures found all over the Internet, my Creative Nomad has accepted the firmware and has borned again.
What I did?
1. Connected the Nomad on a computer with Windows XP and Windows Media Player 9, that never has been touched by a creaive device.
It recognizes the device but can´t find any update to the drivers,
2. Updated Windows Media Player 9 to Windows Media Player 10,
3. Restart the computer
4. Connect the Nomad and the computer recognizes the device and autamtically search and found updated MPT drivers.
5. Run the firmware update program "ZenXtraP4SAudible_PCFW_LB_2_10_03 (Creative Zen Xtra PlaysForSure Firmware 2.10.03)"
6. Finally the magic button always has been disabled was enabled so start reloading firmware.
And now the Nomad is working in windows vista.

The difference between the computer where the firmware works and the others is that this has never had media player 10 or 11 and never has installed creative drivers.
