I'm getting error code 388 when I fax to one
The fax machine has originated a fax session and detected a remote fax machine but has been unable to connect to it. If the machine is in V.17 mode, it is likely the connection has been interrupted. In V.34 mode it is also possible for this error to occur due to compatibility problems with certain machines and/or line conditions.
Solution:
1. Reattempt the fax transmission at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved.
or
2. Disable V.34 on the local machine and attempt the transmission using the V.17 mode.
I hope I have been able to help you.
Have a NICE Day!!
How do i connect my
The fax must be connected directly to the wall phone jack. Connect any other phone line devices, such as a telephone or answering machine, to the phone jack on the back of the fax
The phone line cable used to connect the fax must be a two-conductor (wire) phone cable, like the one that shipped with the fax. The fax may fail to send or receive faxes if the phone cable has more than two conductors. To determine how many conductors the phone cable has, look at the end of the cable. Most phone cable connectors are clear and you can see the number of wires

Flashing red light to right
Hi,
There is high chance that you might have used some other cartridge instead of original HP cartridges. The cartridges tend to have bad ink which spoils the cartridge head and the printer finds it very difficult to work from there on. I would recomend to try installing original HP cartridges and if it does not get rid of the red flashing light , sorry to say but please go for a new printer.
Let me know if you need any other help.
Thanks
The printer carriage gets stuck on the left side
If it is connected to a surge protector, then i will suggest u to connect it directly to a wall outlet as some times it does not get enough power supply. Because surge protector divides the total power supply among the products those are connected to it...Try this and still if it does not work.....
I get a paper jam report even though there is no
Search for the fault in sensor. The first of them is on input section and ?nother the presenting, on output. Or sensor was fix or has been jam by sheet. May be it was broken off. Else, I must to know , what does the tipe of flash the led blinks, it is necessary and important. What does the colour of signals . And the flashing period?
Fax double feeds sheets
This may occur if:
-the paper is too thick or too thin
-the roller mechanism is not properly aligned or has worn out
-the sheets of paper stick together
things you can try:
-unload the paper in the main tray and bend the stack of paper to loosen it up. Reload the paper to the main tray
Hope this helps!
Message: phone off the hook
I am reading 2 different things into this post, so if I am of base let me know exactly what is happening.
If you are getting an off the hook message on the machine display, there is an actuator on the cover where the phone is on the machine that is for some reason not being actuated. The cover poped off a little, the actuator broke. But it is not turnign on a switch that tells the machine the phone is connected and on the hook.
Now if you are simply not getting a dial tone. What happens when you plug a phone into that jack? Do you then get a dial tone? If you get a dial tone on the phone and not the machine, then try connecting the phone into the cord of the fax machine to eliminate the phone line itself. If you do that, and you still have no dial tone on the fax machine only. The modem on the fax machine has failed and would need to be replaced.
I suspect a phone line issue, but unsure if you have checked that as of yet.
