Creative MuVo TX FM will not turn on

I had the same sudden power-off on a MuVo TX that I have had for 2 years now. I also had problems upgrading it, I got the latest firmware updater tool from here: http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=213&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK=&nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+XP®ion=3&Product_Name=MuVo+TX&Product_ID=9672&modelnumber=&driverlang=1033&OS=10&drivertype=0&x=31&y=7 ...but the first attempt to upgrade left me with a dead player. Grrr. However, I managed to recover it.. I rebooted my laptop.. and used 7zip to unpack the creative upgrade tool to a folder. I then plugged in the MuVo (while holding the power button? can't remember) and got the windoze New Hardware wizard. Selected 'Manual install' then selected 'from a disk/folder', browsed to where I had unpacked the driver, hit next and allowed the wizard plenty of time to work it all out. That seemed to get the player detected as an empty disk device again. Then I was able to run the installer (double clicked on the downloaded .exe) and select a full upgrade, and that worked. (when I was doing this, the tool claimed my player had firmware version 0.00 installed on it !?! weird.). So it may be possible to recover even a seemingly dead player. I have not verified that the power-off issue is fully resolved, I only did this 10 minutes ago and it´s an intermittent problem. But so far, it seems to work. Hope this gives some clues. Best of luck, EasyTarget.

I/O device error

My MuVO TX was having problems until I installed the latest firmware. The last firmware release was in March 2007. If you haven't updated the player's firmware since then, try downloading it and installing Creative MuVo TX FM Firmware 1.24.02.

If you can't get your computer to even recognize the player anymore, you could try reinstalling the Creative Mass Storage Driver 1.07.00.250.

Player not working

  • If your MuVo player turns off automatically after a few seconds of operation, or if it turns off immediately when you press any button on the player, it is possible that the battery is depleted or the firmware is corrupted.
  • To resolve this difficulty and prevent it from happening again, update the player's firmware

MUVO TX FM MP3 256 MB

I get music from mp3fiesta.com. It's not free, but it's really cheap. I just download the tunes into the My Music folder then when you plug your MuVo into a USB port you should get a new window into which you can just drag any tunes you want.

First of all, though, you should try changing the batteries, just to make sure that's not the problem. Sometimes the solution is a simple one! :)

    Volume

I also had the same problem for my 1GB device. On the inside, there is a switch that gets pressed via the volume buttons. If you pressed too ******* it, the switch's solder may have come loose and has gone out of the socket. To fix this, you must open the black portion,(yes, you must cut it along the crease at where it was sealed) and re solder the volume button in.
Note: This may void your warranty.

I think there is a bug in the newest formatting software for Muvo TX. I tried the firmware MuVoV200_PCFW_LF_1_12_03.exe, which is for another model (Muvo 200) and it seems to work on my Muvo TX

Creative Muvo TxFm 256Mb mp3 player

Try holding down the button for several seconds? If you just hit it for a second, it says "Please wait", but then the "please wait" message will go away, and the song will be paused. After the song is paused for a long time, it will eventually think you forgot about it and turn off to save battery life. Just keep holding the button until it actually turns off. I think it takes 3 seconds of holding the button down.
