I install a fan in the back, there is a only o9ne 5 v, 3,3 a that you can connect workin fine..

black screen means that you need to change the input or it is not hooked up correctly with the cabling. if no "input, a/v, source or tv/video" button on tv itself will need to purchase universal remote. if you do have one of those buttons continue to push it several times pausing a few seconds in between and look for a picture. also you can try channeling up or down to ch 3 or 4 or sometimes even channeling down/up will change the different inputs (depends on the tv) hope this helps

I just took the back off my Gateway for a simular problem
I just took the screws out of the legs on the back of the set and all the screws around the edge then the support where the legs were attached and then the screws around the box with all the video jacks that pulls off. Hope this helps

Has the childlock function been activated?

OK, 10 times is HV protection (High Voltage) and problem can be in D board and Q8013, Q8014 can be shorted along with R8051 open.
also IC8005 can be damaged.
All above parts on D board.
I would recommend to get related service manual for proper diagnose of problem in TV.

my 5 yr. old 50 inch plasma hd that i paid almost $7000 for started flashing for afew sec. when first turned on.progresivly got worse,flashed for about 30 min. then ok until turned off.after about a month power light comes on fans start then trips off. gateway phone 888 737 6949 wants $250 for power supply $330 for video?board $600 plus for other boards no guarantees.i fixed mine by spending $1000 for a new vizio 50 inch plasma hd.if anyone wants a free dead gateway email me,

My speciality is microelectronic, not the huge stuff, but I was asked by a buddy to take a look at his Plasma - Not exactly sure if this will help.

But there is a fuse in the power section (enclosed cage removed) it is an 8A Slo-Blow fuse. This fuse was blown when one of the huge electrolytic Caps shorted, or Dried out.

If you are inside the TV. There are 3 caps on one side, 450WV@ 220uF and 3 on the other side 250@ 560uf -

You should see visably the bubble on top of the shorted one. In my case I had one of each with different problem. 560uF oozed or had leaked electrolytic, and the 220uF had bubbled (rounded) on top usually indicating a short..

I actually bought the 5 year warranty when we purchased this new and it was still under warranty. Gateway is sending us a brand new TV. No need for me to try to fix this, but thanks to all involved.
