RCA Lyra RD2780 Digital Media Player - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
What format of video can
Good day,
I read on a troubleshoot website that the player supports the following format:
"The Lyra AV Jukebox can play MPEG4-SP video content encoded with the DivX 4/5 and xVID codecs."
Hope this helps!
Have a nice day!
How to update my lyra2780a
First you need to download the files from here
http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads.aspx?product=44
you need
RD2780 Lyra™ A/V Jukebox Software Package (Version 1.0.3.5)and
RD2780 Lyra™ A/V Upgrade Utility
download both files. the format the lyra from windows explorer (fat32).
the install the a/v jukebox. it will put an icon in the system tray. right clic it and select "update system files" (or something like that). when it´s done, disconnect the lyra from the PC and reboot the lyra. It will update automatically.
then download the second file to update firmware. that should work.
USB Safemode
You are right. There is a part (SMT transistor) that needs to be replaced.
I saw a couple of years ago a seller in ebay from UK that sold the part and instructions to repair it. You can try this option.
Other one is that you send your media player to be fixed. If after check this option with local repair centers, and after evaluate why is so expensive such repair, you can contact the Ebay seller Great_items_2004 for a lower diagnostics/repair fee.
Best regards,

If the file is missing, it is difficult to recover. Go to RCA's website, and try updating the firmware.

Make sure it's charged. Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged. Hold in the on button for 5-7 seconds until it fully powers on.
Recording
you have to play the vhs before hitting the record button or the lyra will pick up no signal i had the same problem recording my dvds
Physical repair
Well so far I have gotten the case off of this. It is very similar to the 2825A case, only much easier to come off. Once you remove all the screws you can move the case a little and see the tabs you need to push in in order to get the case all the way off. Unfortunately, the volume button actually consists of two buttons. The increase button will be facing you when you get the case off. Anything from a faulty connection needing to be soldered to the main board to a broken plastic part, like the green plastic inside, or even a faulty button piece can be your problems. Depending on what it is and the degree of difficulty it is to get to it, you can decide what to do with your player next.
My RCA home theater system,
Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.
Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.
You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.
If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.
If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.
