If the set has been unplugged or has had a disruption in the power it may have to be setup again. Try going into your menu and go to the setup . Look around in setup for channel search of some kind. The set will search for channel signals in your area automatically once you tell it to. Then you should have the channels back. If this works then after it has run its search go to the AUDIO part of the menu and check that mute is off and that you did not turn off the internal speakers. If you are lucky and your set has plugins for external speakers, you can just get speakers to use with the set, but this is pretty rare. Check the rear panel on the set and see whats there. Most sets have an AUDIO OUT plugs that will pass the sound through your set to a home stereo for sound. Just run the lines from the audio out on the set to audio in on the amp or receiver of the sound system you have. Audio out will have a red and white plugs and just keep the red to red and white to white when hooking it up.

The P52940 uses the 195 series chassis. The vert/hgt control is for vertical height. It adjusts the size of the picture from top to bottom. If your picture is flipping, it most likely means that something is wrong in the vertical circuits. I have seen fluid leak out of one of the CRTs and drip down on the vertical output IC, causeing the picture to go crazy vertically. The set should be serviced by a qualified tech experienced in the RCA 195 chassis.

The P52940 uses the CTC195 series main chassis. The most common reason for the set not to start up is a shorted flyback (high voltage) transformer. The set actually does try to start, but the computer immediately detects the extra current drawn by the shorted flyback and instantly shuts the set back off. The chassis should be checked and the flyback replaced by a qualified tech familiar with RCA projection TV's.
